iePolitics: A new Registrar of Voters for SBCo.

Michael Scarpello

When Kari Verjil left, we played “Thank God and Greyhound She’s Gone.”  She was the worst registrar of voters in county history.  The only thing that kept her going as long as she did was that she had a great staff that did their jobs despite her leadership.

I thought it appropriate that we welcome our new registrar with an appropriate song as well.  Take a listen:

iePolitics: So when will Kari Verjil go?

The Riverside County Board of Supervisors finally showed a little backbone and terminated Barbara Dunmore.   And their registrar of voters hasn’t embarrassed them nearly as badly as Kari Verjil has embarrassed the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors.  Not only can’t Verjil get ballots counted in a timely manner like her former Riverside counterpart, but she made state-wide news when she disallowed an inordinate number of recall signatures in the Anthony Adams recall attempt.  But that is not all.

iePolitics: Where are the absentee ballots? (or It’s time for Kari Verjil to go)

This county has been plagued with the worst registrar of voters in the state for years now.  Mark Uffer is no longer around to protect her.  When is this County Administrative Officer going to have backbone enough to can her?

As someone said to me yesterday, how much you want to bet that we will not get the results of the Governor’s race timely because San Bernardino County screwed things up again?

iePolitics: Roses and Raspberries

I’m not feeling too creative right now so I’m going to steal the terms Press Enterprisecolumnist Cassie MacDuff uses for her annual end-of-year column.  My awards only go to two people.  Well two people, and then an entire classification of county employees.

First, for the Roses.  Thank you April from the Registrar of Voters office for being so helpful and professional.  It was appreciated, especially when I know I’m not your boss’ favorite person.  And one to the First District chief of staff who doesn’t want to be mentioned in my blog!  Thank you David.  I know I can be a bit incoherent when I’m that angry and upset.  I think everyone knows having to deal with stupid ass TAD managers sets me off. iePolitics: A way to help our grassroots candidates

One of the biggest roadblocks for challengers in any political race is the filing fee required by the Registrar of Voters office. We can help the challengers by signing a petition to waive the fee. For countywide positions, such as Sheriff, Auditor-Controller, District Attorney, Assessor, and Superintendent of Schools, almost 10,000 signatures will be needed and we have less than a month to collect those signatures. If you are interested in helping, or just want to sign a petition yourself, email me at: sharon@iepolitics.com
