iePolitics: Paul Schrader for Sheriff

www.sheriffpaul.net

There has been a cloud of corruption over the San Bernardino County government for the past decade. So much corruption that even elected officials who have not been involved in any scandals are viewed with suspicion by the citizens of San Bernardino County.

My goal is to give the citizens of San Bernardino County something that is desperately needed; A Fresh Start. That start begins with concerned, responsive elected officials. A Fresh Start with innovative plans and solutions to the challenges we face. Fresh, proactive leadership that will restore faith, hope, and the belief that a better future for our families and our children is not only possible, but is something we can accomplish together. No longer will the citizens of San Bernardino be barred from participating in the design of our future, your voices silenced or unheard. I pledge to you that there will be a Fresh Start in law enforcement, that you will be a part of it, your voice will be heard. Continue reading

iePolitics: The Race for Sheriff

There are three candidates running for the office of San Bernardino Sheriff/Coroner, all of whom are Republicans.  Current Sheriff Rod Hoops was appointed by the Board of Supervisors last year to replace retiring Sheriff Gary Penrod.  San Bernardino County Deputy Sheriff Mark Averbeck was the first to challenge his boss for the top spot.  And Los Angeles County Deputy Sheriff Paul Schrader is also vying for the top cop position.

To a degree, this was one of the toughest races for me to make a decision about and that may surprise regular readers of iePolitics.  I believe all three candidates are good men who want what is best for this county. Continue reading

iePolitics: Geez, I feel like my blog has been taken over by the ghosts of Starsky and Hutch

For all the cops who seem to like to argue, I have taken you off of moderate because I’m tired of my Blackberry beeping with a new message to moderate every five minutes.  If you want your messages to go straight to the blog for all the world to see without moderation, you can’t use any bad words, anything bigoted including race or sexual orientation, or include any links, including email addresses, in the body of the message.  I really want to leave the blog this way, so please be respectful so I don’t have to put the blog back on moderate. Mark Averbeck: Paul Schrader’s Unauthorized Use of SB Sheriff’s Logo

May 6, 2010

Paul Schrader’s Unauthorized Use of SB Sheriff’s Logo

Today I had the pleasure of speaking to the Editorial Staff of the Press Enterprise regarding who they will endorse for the San Bernardino County Sheriff/Coroner. It was a very interesting forum with all three candidates being present. Sheriff Hoops was very kind and professional. Paul Schrader was friendly and did a good job as well. I was pleased with the answers I gave to the panel.

We are all working hard to try and convince the voters that we are the best candidate to serve our citizens. After the event I spoke to Paul regarding his utilizing the San Bernardino County Logo on his picture. I told him once again I thought he was misleading the voters because the inference is he is already a member of the Sheriffs Department. I asked him if he made up his mind whether he was going to pull the logo or continue to use it. Paul said it is a marketing tool. Paul sees no problem with it since Sheriff Hoops uses a picture of a helicopter with the logo on his web site. Continue reading

iePolitics: Why Vote for Paul Schrader

Many might be wondering why they should vote for Paul Schrader.  Well lets look at some of what I believe to be common sense issues. NO masters degree needed.

This is nothing personal against Mark Averbeck. I admire his fortitude and no-nonsense approach to the Captain Gray scandal in the last week.  Some think that Averbeck’s approach is nothing more than political grandstanding.  Maybe.   Or maybe Mark is just tired of what he has seen in his career. I will give him the benefit of the doubt. Continue reading

iePolitics: So Where Has The Sun Been All of This Time?

The story below on Captain Gray, his wife, and the falsified P.O.S.T. certificates has been on our blog since last year with a heck of a lot more detail than is included in the Sun article.  Although I’m glad Sheriff’s candidate Rick Averbeck was able to get the media interested after months of us trying, it does seem opportunistic. Paul Schrader: Fiscal Conservative-San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department

I would like to bring a Fresh Start to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department financing and budgeting reviews. I will appoint a volunteer committee to review the audit and devise solutions to maximize the use of funds currently being spent in the Sheriff’s Department, especially to make available the maximum amount of technology and resources to the Deputies working in the field and in the jails.

I will be exploring the possibility of using resources such video cameras in high-crime areas, electronic monitoring systems, shot spotters, and an automatic license plate recognition system to identify stolen vehicles. The feasibility of adding K-9′s and volunteers into the ranks will also be explored.

Go to my website at sheriffpaul.net, join my team and together we can make a fresh start.

Paul Schrader: Transparency- San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department

Transparency

The questions asked at most of my events and from people all over the county is, what are they hiding, and why is the sheriff and his command staff not open and available to the public.

As part of my fresh start approach to the San Bernardino Sheriff’s Department, it will be my duty to see that the Department is above reproach in order to restore and retain the respect and trust of the public. My first objective is to make all areas of the Department transparent, especially the jails. There will be an open dialogue maintained with the community and community activists who have questions regarding the Department, including the jails.

In order to bring justice to those wronged and closure to those who have done right, I will have all internal investigations expedited. The community will know the truth, and Deputies will be treated fairly and in accordance with “The Peace Officer’s Bill of Rights”.

This is the right thing to do.  Check out my website at www.sheriffpaul.net and let’s work together for a TRANSPARENT Department.

” Virtue, then, is of two kinds, intellectual and moral. Intellectual virtue springs from and grows from teaching, and therefore needs experience and time. Moral virtues come from habit… They are in us neither by nature, not in despite of nature, but we are furnished by nature with a capacity for receiving them, and we develop them through habit… Whatever we learn to do, we learn by actually doing it… by doing just acts we come to be just and by doing brave acts, we become brave…”

iePolitics: One More Thing

Everyone keeps asking how to help.  There is one BIG thing every one of you can do to help, not only me, but everyone in this county who has been abused by the system and that is this.  On June 1, 2010 vote for Paul Schrader for Sheriff, Scott Markovich for Second District Supervisor, any opponent of Gary Ovitt’s, and any opponent of Mike Ramos.  These bastards need to be kicked out of office!

I am sick to death of the Sheriff’s Department telling me they are trying to help when they have been one of the biggest contributors to my problems.  HOOPS NEEDS TO GO!  We need a sheriff in there with some integrity.

And we need a Chairman of the Board of Supervisors also with some integrity, including in their chief of staff.  If the only way to get rid of Mark Kirk is to get rid of Gary Ovitt, so be it.

Mr. Schrader has 27 years of law enforcement experience at city, county and federal levels. He currently works as a Deputy Sheriff Bonus One with the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department.
