Today’s Press Enterprise articles on the POST scandal report two very interesting rulings. First, Judge Brian McCarville ruled that the media could be present and take photographs. Specifically, he said that the defendants are public figures with limited expectations of privacy. Strike one against cops who think they can hide behind their badges and POBR and every other obsticle they throw up to keep their crimes out of the public view.

Next, the defendants want the Grand Jury transcripts kept confidential. Again, McCarville reminded attorneys that the transcripts become public record ten days after they are released to the defense. Although, the defense can argue at that time that the transcripts should not be made public, it does not sound like this judge is going to go along with the good old boys this time. Maybe we will see a little justice.
