iePolitics: A few ramblings

In the past several days I have had a chance to meet several regular and not-so-regular readers of iePolitics.  It is always interesting for me to do so because so many people have preconceived notions of what I’m about.  It is also always interesting to see what touches a nerve and what doesn’t.

For example, in the past two days I have met both a retired lawyer and a retired cop.  The cop was quick to point out he did not work for SBSD.  I wonder why he thought that would matter to me?  :)

SBSun: Hey, FBI, open a local office

Posted: 09/24/2011 05:15:32 PM PDT

It was too bad when San Bernardino County’s finances turned south – along with everyone else’s – and county leaders decided they could not afford to build a new county government center on the Carousel Mall site in downtown San Bernardino.

But we see the possibility of another government agency making a home there: the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

The FBI has had so many of its agents working in San Bernardino County lately, it only makes sense to open an office in the county. Just saving the mileage reimbursement the agency has to pay all those officers to drive from Los Angeles or Riverside to the frequent raids they stage in our county should go a long way toward paying the mortgage or rent the FBI would have to pay for a San Bernardino office.

iePolitics: The FBI raids

I’ve been reading the comments and stories and listening to all of the conspiracy theories.  There doesn’t seem to be a single theory that fits all of the circumstances known.  I am going to put forth my own theory and I guess we shall all see who is right and who is wrong in a few months.

First, a little background based on those things that I know or sense:

iePolitics: A couple of comments

When I read the op-ed piece by Jeff Burum I had to wonder to myself if there are things about the settlement he does not know.  His friends paint one picture of him; the district attorney’s office sure does paint a very different picture.

I do know that I truly hope he and his partners and the others on his side of the issue are getting the Los Angeles FBI involved in this investigation and the claims that that is being done are not simply posturing and smoke and mirrors.  I can honestly say I have zero faith in our justice system these days.

iePolitics: ARMC Update

We understand that many of those who received Federal Grand Jury subpoenas then received letters that they did not have to appear.  However, the FBI has followed up with “intensive” interrogation of witnesses.  The emphasis seems to be on free medical care and conflict of interest.

We will keep you posted.

iePolitics: Ten months of obstruction

Today’s departure of San Bernardino County Public Defender Doreen Boxer ends ten months of obstruction and interference by County Administrative Officer Greg Devereaux.  Devereaux was made very aware of the issues with both County Counsel Ruth Stringer and Boxer just after he was hired.  Both individuals were at-will employees who could have easily been terminated for their malfeasance in office.  Both received Devereaux’s protection despite BOS disapproval.

The recent power grab by Devereaux is expected to make it even more difficult for the Board of Supervisors to eliminate department heads who violate county policy and/or state law, harm constituents, or underperform.  Supervisors will have to have a super majority in order to deal with such situations and that is not likely.

iePolitics: Meltdown at County Fire – Part 2

Bret Henry

I am going to start this by responding to the two people who used a number of various names on the blog but that 95 percent of the negative comments came from.  I chose to remain silent for a day just to see where this would go and it went exactly where I expected it to go as I had been warned ahead of time what the thugs at the Fire union are capable of doing.

You see Bret, Bobby, and the rest of you, you can call me crazy and I could not care less.  You can write whatever lies you would like to and I also don’t care.  Have you heard the saying, “Don’t underestimate the power of someone who has nothing to lose.”  Well, I have absolutely nothing to lose and that sets me apart from your other victims.

iePolitics: So is an arrest imminent in Upland?

Behind-the-scenes happenings are pointing to the possible imminent arrest or indictment in the Upland scandal involving JP Pomierski.  We are hard pressed to find anyone who knows Pomierski who will say he is not guilty of strongarming businesses and taking kickbacks.  But we are also hearing he may very well be doing an Adam Aleman and helping the FBI go after the bigger fish—those bigger fish being west end businessmen and developers.   Time will tell which is more accurate, chatter or logic.

InlandPolitics: The Insider: Feds calling shots in ARMC investigation

www.inlandpolitics.com

Wednesday, November 10, 2010 – 9:28 a.m.

Is the District Attorney really calling the shots in the investigation involving activities at Arrowhead Regional Medical Center (ARMC)?

The evidence is building, and it’s beginning to look more and more like the answer is “no”.

Confidential sources tell The Insider that federal agents were doing the questioning of hospital staff, not investigators for District Attorney Michael Ramos, as everyone is being led to believe.

Press Release – Part II – Exposing the Octopus, Circa Hollywood: Revelations of Former DOJ Prosecutors in 2009.

Journalist Danny Casolaro’s death was like a stone hurled into a pool of water.  Ever expanding circles of shock-waves rippled from the epicenter in Washington D.C. to the furthest reaches of the nation’s consciousness. When the last circle wave crashed upon the West Coast, its psychological effects prompted California journalists to seek answers to what had been contained in Casolaro’s files, stolen on the eve of his death. The Last Circle book follows the trail of his investigation which he termed “The Octopus.”

iePolitics: Ruthie got to be in court this morning

San Bernardino County’s County Counsel and chief legal beagle of many years got to make a court appearance this morning.  Finally.  I’m paraphrasing here a bit, but I believe her involvement this morning was limited to, “Ruth Stringer on behalf of San Bernardino County, your Honor.”  Wow, she should be proud.  She’s moving up to the level of big-time attorneys.  Way to go Ruthie!

iePolitics: More information on FBI probe

Additional information regarding the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s (FBI) probe into the San Bernardino County corruption scandal has been trickling into iePolitics.  It appears there are two general areas the Bureau is concentrating on: all investigations conducted by District Attorney Mike Ramos’ Public Integrity Unit (PIU) and the Superior Court bench.

Based upon questions being asked by agents, this investigation is wide-ranging.  iePolitics has been told that questions are being asked regarding various real estate deals; destruction of records by former Third District Supervisor Dennis Hansberger; disparity in handling the various FPPC complaints by Ramos against Penrod, Erwin, Biane, Devereaux, and others; the difference in the way in which 1099 charges against Jim Miller and Bea Cortes were handled; the POST scandal; possibly several of the issues at ARMC (regarding Supervisors Biane and Gonzales); and much more.

iePolitics: County’s top lawyers all on thin ice

San Bernardino County’s three top lawyers may be “former” employees by year’s end.  San Bernardino County District Attorney Mike Ramos, Public Defender Doreen Boxer, and County Counsel Ruth Stringer all are in precarious positions at best.

Although mainstream media has refused to cover the antics of District Attorney Mike Ramos, iePolitics and InlandPolitics have covered them extensively.  We have been accused of libeling poor Mikey.  But the seeds he has sown are about to come back to haunt him and prove that we are the ones with truth on our side.

I don’t share these types of hits much any more because they have become so routine, but I know our Public Defender friends are always in need of a morale booster.  Here is something that may or may not have significance.  At least we know they are looking.

Senor Blogger: Another Connection To Upland Activity? No Karaoke In Rancho Cucamonga Bars

Editor’s Note:  This is one of those stories that sounds more like an aluminum foil gathering’s conspiracy theory . . . that is until one examines it more closely.  Once one looks at all that are involved in this shut-down—from political donations and support of certain city officeholders to business beneficiaries of such an enforcement—it starts to sound like a much more viable theory.  In a few weeks after the FBI and IRS have made more of their investigation public, we’ll ask Senor Blogger to give us some specifics of who is donating to whom and who has political debts to be paid.

Could there be a “karaoke connection” to this week’s FBI/IRS raids in Upland?

Curious and coincidental it may seem—and it may be entirely coincidental—but just this past January, code enforcement officers unexpectedly descended on a number of nightlife establishments in Upland’s neighboring city of Rancho Cucamonga to kindly “inform” them that, according to Rancho Cucamonga municipal code, live entertainment, including amateur karaoke singers, requires a special entertainment license.

Although many readers may ponder why one would spend their evenings listening to terrible amateur singers belt out poorly performed tunes, karaoke nights at Rancho Cucamonga bars prove popular for owners and customers alike . . . Continue reading

iePolitics: FBI Probe Hits SB County

As expected once Tuesday’s primary was concluded, an FBI task force moved in to serve search warrants on at least four locations in San Bernardino County.  This morning’s raid included Upland City Hall, which was sealed off while agents from the FBI and IRS completed their search.

According to Los Angeles-based radio station KFI, their sources confirmed this is an FBI-initiated investigation related to the on-going San Bernardino County corruption investigation.  This is separate from San Bernardino County District Attorney Mike Ramos’ ongoing investigation.

iePolitics: Notify the FBI

Barb has been fired for hate speech in the past and she has been investigated for criminal activity in connection with her hate speech.  I believe this time Barb, ET, Al Vogler, and Paul Bosacki have crossed the line.  I have made an FBI complaint and I suggest those of you who have witnessed her most recent obnoxious behavior do the same.  I sent a copy of the video to the FBI.  Here is the link:  https://tips.fbi.gov/

I have also filed complaints with a number of civil rights organizations.  Tomorrow I will list contact information for them as well as contact for the radio station’s sponsors.  It is time she is taken off the air for good.

iePolitics: From a Fan!

Below is an email I received today.  I love this stuff!  You guys out on the Rez can send the FBI all you want.  Boy do I have some sources with some stories to tell that they will be interested in.

What is funny is through the corruption scandal I have learned just how hard it is to get the FBI interested in anything.  So, I won’t be holding my breath waiting for them to come aknockin’ at my door any time soon!
