iePolitics: Frustration

Yesterday I was a bit frustrated as evidenced by my Editor’s Note on the “No room at the inn” article.  I was using a library computer and almost got the article done when the library censors decided to strike again.  I had both the Examiner and the BillPostmus.net windows open when the censors decided that they were inappropriate for county computers.  I tried everything to no avail.  Finally, I cleared the cache and it allowed me to go back into Examiner but not BillPostmus.net.  However, it would not allow me to do much, thus an article posted with few hyperlinks, etc.  It censored me a second time and I gave up.  So the blog entry was a bit curt as I was not a happy camper.

I added a link today so you can actually get to the story.  Despite the lack of hyperlinks, my story once again was selected for the front page so we received a lot of hits despite the county’s attempt to the contrary.

iePolitics: Blog content

I am seriously struggling trying to come up with political stories.  I know everyone wants the inside scoop on the Colonies situation but I’m in a situation where it is difficult to discuss it without betraying confidences.  Other than that, there doesn’t seem to be a whole lot going on.  If anyone has any great ideas, please pass them along.  Anonymous tips can still be sent to PO Box 2722, Apple Valley, CA 92307.

iePolitics: Our 15,000th comment

Well ACU, you are No. 15,000.  The current version of the blog is not quite two years old.  There have been 2758 posts with a total of 15,000 comments.  Since its inception we have posted more than 10,000 stories and received 35,000 comments.

Our goal has always been to average 4 comments per story and we have been exceeding that goal for some time.  We are getting closer to 6 comments per story.  We appreciate your continued support especially in light of the fact I have had so little ability to keep the blog updated for quite a while now.  I’m trying to make things change.

Thank you once again.

iePolitics: 17 days and counting

It’s been 17 days since I picked up the bug from hell. I can’t seem to get over it.  I am not sure why it has hit be so hard except my immune system must have been compromised.  I will try to get this blog updated tomorrow (Friday) for those who wonder if there will ever be anything new. In the meantime, Happy Veterans Day to all who served our country.

iePolitics: A few ramblings

In the past several days I have had a chance to meet several regular and not-so-regular readers of iePolitics.  It is always interesting for me to do so because so many people have preconceived notions of what I’m about.  It is also always interesting to see what touches a nerve and what doesn’t.

For example, in the past two days I have met both a retired lawyer and a retired cop.  The cop was quick to point out he did not work for SBSD.  I wonder why he thought that would matter to me?  :)

iePolitics: A gentle reminder

Several months ago I took down the PayPal button and stopped asking for donations to keep the blog going because I was tired of the grief it caused.  I have been trying to keep it going through earnings from Examiner.com.  Between the low pay and my lack of internet access, we are barely limping along.

I am asking again to click on my Examiner articles if you are not doing so.  Here are links to the last few:

iePolitics: Excuse me

I have a lot of bloggers I owe information/phone calls to.  My internet access is so limited right now that I just don’t have time to keep up.  For those in Trona, the lady next to the freeway in SB, and Raisuli, I have not forgotten you.  If I have not mentioned you, your email is probably so buried, I will never find it.  Please email me again at iepolitics2010@gmail.com.

Things will hopefully slow down a bit mid-November and I will have a better internet connection.  Please continue to send tips and information for posts.

Also, does anyone have an update on the autopsy on the gentleman from Lake Arrowhead?  How about the Rutherford recall?  Opponents for Brad?  Where Lewis is running?

iePolitics: The blog

A new version of the template for this blog came out today, so I updated.  As you can see, it made the print much larger.  The larger print bugs me, but of course I am nearsighted.  Changing it back requires me to adjust the CSS, which was a pain in the butt to begin with.  I thought I would ask you, the readers, if you would prefer to go back to the smaller print or leave it as is.

FYI, I am planning a complete revamp of the blog for the new year.  I plan to move everything from iepolitics.com to iepolitics.net and then start the new year off with a completely different theme and change a few of the ways I do things for all new iepolitics.com entries, including trying to be more consistent with style, correct grammar, and quality.  First I have to find a template I like.  I will keep you posted.

iePolitics: Blog Advisory

The big announcement I have been hinting at since early this year is finally upon us.  It is scheduled for Monday at 11 a.m.  Press releases will be going out at that time and an Examiner article will post to the blog.  If I should drop dead between now and then, there is a backup plan so that it all still happens with or without me.

iePolitics: Attention Bloggers

This is for those who have their own political blogs or small newspapers in San Bernrdino County or run San Bernardino County stories.  I seem to be missing emails for most of you and trying to find you on Facebook has been a problem.  If you want to be on the press release list for the big project I’ve been talking about for months, I need your email address.  Send it to me at iepolitics2010@gmail.com asap.

iePolitics: Thank you

My life seems to change drastically day by day and that has been especially true for the past few months.  For the last few days you guys have been great about clicking on the Examiner.com articles.  I hope you will contine.

It’s hard to tell when I will have internet access but I am trying.  We still have a big announcement coming, but nothing ever happens as quickly as you want it.

Anyway, thank you everyone.

iePolitics: Thanks

Thank you to those who helped me figure out how to get my photos off of Flickr.  It worked.  Above is the last snake I caught from a better time in my life.

Also, thank you to those who sent donations.  I told you NO but you guys don’t listen!!  It’s appreciated.  However, my resolve stands as far as making this blog self-sufficient and moving it off shore.  I may have an Examiner article up tonight or the first one may go up tomorrow night.  I will provide all the instructions then.

iePolitics: The blog, etc.

I was working from Yucca Valley last night.  Little did I know the whole place shuts down at 9 p.m. so I lost my internet connection early and never got all my posts done.  I also didn’t get Bill’s posts done.  Check out www.BillPostmus.net if you would like to read national items.

I appreciate all the responses and I am going to try to get a post out before the end of the night (my night that is).

iePolitics: A decision about the blog

Taking a few days away from the blog allowed me some time to put things in perspective.  I guess the bottom line is that after five years of doing this, the last eighteen months of which has been trying to keep it afloat without a paycheck, I’m tired of readers telling me that I “must” keep the blog going while only receiving lackluster support.

Some months ago, after a ton of encouragement from others, I added the PayPal button so that at least the hosting fees could get paid.  I try to get posts up from Starbucks, McDonald’s, Denny’s, the library, or wherever I can find an internet connection, whenever I can make it into the big city.  I have tried several things to get the internet at home but I seem to live in a dead zone as nothing works (same goes for my cell phone and radio).

iePolitics: The blog

I almost have my stories caught up.  I’m taking the next few days off from the blog.  Unless I make it to the library, there won’t be anything new until Monday or Tuesday.

So enjoy Independence Day.  Remember those who fought for our freedom and those who founded this great country so that we could have the freedom to blog and say what we want about our elected and appointed leaders. Continue reading

iePolitics: Tips

We have been receiving some tips but I have tips for all of you who want to give us tips.  Please, please, please either send your tips to PO Box 2722, Apple Valley, CA 92307 (safest method) or email them to iepolitics2010@gmail.com.  If you don’t see an acknowledgement on the blog or via email, it likely means I did not receive what you sent.  I’m having email issues again.

Now for a few specific tips:

To the person who sent me the information some time ago on Megan Mitzelfelt, it hasn’t been forgotten. I’m just waiting for it to be closer to the election.

iePolitics: A new blog

Blogging is definitely not for the faint of heart or for the thin skinned.  It does not matter what one writes, someone will take exception to it and will use a number of expletives in the process.  The anonymity of blogging brings out people’s dark sides.  Blogging also brings out truths that otherwise would not see the light of day.  It’s up to the readers to muddle through and decide for themselves what is truth and what is not..

Sometimes things that are written are just not true and other times the truth hurts a lot.   Whether it is the truth or not, most want to defend their good names.  Some go so far as to fight fire with fire.

iePolitics: Tomorrow

Tomorrow I will do my best to post the second article in the Abernathie sex scandal series and “Behind the Scenes – Part Two.”  The latter is written but I need to verify a few things first.

If you have submitted stories to me and they have not appeared, please send me a reminder as to what they are.  I’m trying to get caught up but I literally receive hundreds of emails a day and I know some stories are getting buried.

iePolitics: We just did it!!!

I honestly never thought it was possible, but we just crashed through our former hits records of November 17, 2009.  I guess Mark Uffer will be relieved to know that his termination is no longer the most popular story on the blog.  Then again, with his ego, he might be quite disappointed.

Thank you all for your support.  We didn’t get everything we wanted today, but we did make some good things happen.  Let’s see where this story goes.

iePolitics: A milestone for iePolitics

Today for the first time in the blog’s history (remembering Coffeerockets.com, crittercollectibles.com and sharongilbert.com), we broke the 10,000 comment level.

iePolitics.com is the first of my blogs that consists of almost entirely original content.  The current version has been live almost 14 months.  In that time I have posted 1881 articles.  Our ratio of comments to articles is 5.3 to 1, the highest ratio we have ever had.

iePolitics: Thanks again

The blog is good for another month, much to the chagrin of a few people.

Does anyone know of a cash card that can be used to transfer money to PayPal?  I tried one but it couldn’t be used for that purpose.  I don’t know what else to try to keep this from happening although with some of the other projects I’m working on, this should be a problem of the past very soon.

iePolitics: Examiner.com

I want to thank those of you who are clicking on the stories, leaving comments and “like”ing them in Facebook.  Writing those articles are really a struggle for me.  I’m so used to being able to write totally informal, often times quirky, articles for the blog, that having to think about punctuation, grammar, style, etc., makes the process tedious.  I don’t particularly enjoy it but it is gradually getting easier.

iePolitics: Thank you and update

First of all, I don’t think I said “thank you” after my last request for donations for the blog.  Once again all of you came through and I appreciate it greatly.

I’m sure all of you have noticed the lack of articles this past week.  It is due to several large projects I am working on that are taking every moment of my waking hours.  A couple of them will likely be announced on the blog within the next 30 days.

iePolitics: The Blog

If anyone can help out with a PayPal donation, it would be appreciated.  I will be happy to send you cash if you let me know who you are (more often than not I don’t know where the donations come from).  As always, nothing over $5.  The account is only a few dollars short but since I don’t have a bank account I have no way to transfer money into it.

iePolitics: Thank you for your support

Yesterday we had the highest hit day for this entire year and second only to the day Mark Uffer was fired.  We appreciate your readership.

There will be a lot of articles today.   I am now formally an Examiner for the Los Angeles County edition and my first article I hope to have done today will be called “San Bernardino County:  A Transfer of Power” to commemorate our new ordinance taking effect and the the power grab and corruption behind it.  Watch for it.

iePolitics: Blog status

I thought I would take a moment to let everyone know what I’m doing to keep iePolitics up and running.  There are two issues here.

First, as you all know, paying for it has been an issue as I have not worked in over a year and the county refuses to pay my disability or settle my worker’s compensation claim unless I agree to shut down the blog or resign.  I refuse to do either.

I have really appreciated the financial support many of you have given to keep the blog alive.  Even while I had no way to blog, some donations came in to keep the blog going another month.

Second, there is a serious  issue of blog security.  The county has attempted to hack the blog and my email.  I have received numerous warnings from Sheriff’s Department personnel who are aware of what the county is doing, and based on what was done to my email accounts, I have no reason to doubt what I was told.

iePolitics: Update

If everything goes right, I will be back on line.  It’s been tough being away from the blog for eleven days!  Thank you to those who helped keep it going in my absence.

I just checked hits, and seriously you guys, I couldn’t believe what I saw.   We had only a few days where we fell below 30,000.  Considering the lack of content, I was surprised.

iePolitics: Thank you – 50,000 hits and counting

I wanted to take a second to say thank you to all who have supported iePolitics, but especially in the past two weeks.  Despite the fact that my internet access has been spotty at best, you guys keep coming back.  I think we only had one day out of the last fourteen when we fell below 50,000 hits for the day.  We appreciate your support.

iePolitics: Update on blog status

Well just when I think all hope is lost, someone comes through.  The blog and my electricity will be up and running for one more month.  There will be a couple of changes.   I cannot afford my computer connection so I will be blogging from the library, which only allows me 1.5 hours of computer time a day.  So the blog will stay on full moderation since I no longer have a Blackberry.

I will be able to get to Starbucks a couple times a week and on those days you will likely to see a lot more posts.  For now, I have a lot of catching up to do and it will take a few days.

iePolitics: Mailing Lists

All emails and comments regarding this subject will be deleted because I’m tired of answering them.  iePolitics has NOTHING to do with Blackbrier or SBCoGrapevine.  We do not control what is sent out nor do we have access to the lists.  If you don’t want to receive the mailings, tell them, not me.

I re-post items from the website www.SBGrapevine.com as a favor to a friend.  The SBCoGrapevine mail list is a separate entity and we have NOTHING to do with it.  If you don’t like what they have to say, don’t read them!
