iePolitics: Is Supervisor Brad Mitzelfelt the “next one to be taken out”?

I have to hand it to Al Vogler, Barb Stanton, ET Snell and their handful of supporters.  Yesterday’s primary marked the second major election in a row where this small, but vocal, group has managed to take out a well-financed candidate they do not like.  Two years ago they focused on Hesperia City Council candidate Mark Kirk, handing him a third-place finish.  This year their objective was to keep Anthony Riley out of the state Assembly.  And they succeeded.

We hear that Al and company now have their sights set on First District Supervisor Brad Mitzelfelt.  In the afterglow of their most recent accomplishment, today Al has apparently been bragging about his past success with Postmus, Kirk and Riley and future plans for Mitzelfelt.  One must remember that Supervisor Mitzelfelt handed Rita Vogler, Al’s wife and Hesperia City Council member, a humiliating loss in the June 2008 primary, so this has the potential to become even more personal. iePolitics: Anthony Riley for 59th Assembly District

A Reagan Republican Who Will Turn Our Economy Around

“Anthony Riley is a rock solid conservative that taxpayers can count on to protect them . . . and he’ll help businesses create more jobs in our state.”

- State Senator George Runner

No Tax Hikes; Stop the Spending

A fiscal conservative, Anthony Riley believes state government has a spending addiction. That’s one reason he signed the Americans for Tax Reform Pledge opposing all tax hikes.

Anthony Riley strongly supports the two-thirds vote requirement before the Legislature can raise taxes.  He favors a strict spending cap based on population and inflation growth that mandates a “rainy day” reserve.  Anthony Riley is the only 59th Assembly District Candidate endorsed by the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers  Association
Political Action Committee. Continue reading

iePolitics: The Race for the 59th Assembly District (Republican)

This is the other hotly contest Assembly District race and the more controversial of the two.  Its current officeholder is Assemblyman Anthony Adams who was the target of a failed recall effort.  There are six candidates vying for our votes.

This race is also “blessed” with a well financed RINO who, unlike Don Kurth, claims to be a Christian.  And this “Christian” (or Mormon in reality) along with his campaign consultant Chris Jones (sound familiar?), has conducted the most hate-filled, ugly campaign in San Bernardino County.  That candidate is, of course, Chris Lancaster, who has stooped to sending photographers to his opponents’ homes to film their young, underaged relatives, sponsoring an incredibly hateful video, and knowingly sending out lie-filled propaganda intended to induce and inspire bigotry and hatred among voters.  Needless to say, Lancaster is undeserving of your vote.

That leaves five other candidates:  Iver Bye, Ken Hunter, Tim Donnelly, Corey Calaycay and Anthony Riley. Continue reading

iePolitics: Conservative Reagan Republican Anthony Riley Upholds Traditional Values

Hesperia, CA – Conservative Republican businessman Anthony Riley re-asserted today his strong support for traditional family values and his unwavering support for heterosexual marriage.

“I voted for Proposition 8 and I firmly believe that the definition of marriage is strictly between a man and a woman,” stated Riley. “Heterosexual marriage is a cherished societal institution.”

“In regard to taxpayer funded abortion, I do not believe that any circumstance warrants the government paying for any abortion,” said Riley.  “As it is, irresponsible people too often use abortion as a form of birth control.” Continue reading

iePolitics: Wanted to Give Ken Some Company on the Blogroll

Poor Ken Hunter has been all by himself over on the blogroll and must be feeling lonely.  Since he seems so enamoured with Anthony Riley, I thought it only fitting that he be the candidate I add to keep him company.  For those who would like to see Anthony’s website, click here.  Anthony has a Facebook page too which can be found here.

While I’m promoting Fourth District employees, here is the Facebook page for Gary Ovitt.  It doesn’t appear he has website.  Not sure if Roman Nava is running again, but here is his website.

iePolitics: The Anthony Riley Document

As both Ken Hunter, candidate for the 59th Assembly District, and John Wurm, Ken’s campaign manager, have indicated, John has sent me a five-page document about opponent Anthony Riley.  Unfortunately, because it was sent in .pdf format, I cannot reprint it on the blog, but you can see it here:  Anthony Riley

Last week I commented that I really like Ken Hunter as a candidate but I was concerned with his connection to Barb Stanton and the unethical means she and her followers use to fight corruption.  I have long contended that using unethical means to fight the unethical makes one as unethical as those they challenge.  The document I received from the Hunter campaign is a perfect example of my point. iePolitics: The 59th Assembly Race — Which One Do I Believe?

I am friends with a few “experts” in the world of politics and campaigns.  One tells me that Anthony Riley does not stand a chance and the other tells me to now consider Riley the front runner.

I said early on that I don’t have an issue with Anthony despite his connection with the Fourth District.  Actually, other than bitchy Joy Chadwick, Mark Kirk seems to hire decent human beings for his staff.  Anthony does not seem to be an exception.  I met Anthony once at a Central Committee meeting and he seemed quiet and reserved and nice enough.  Continue reading

iePolitics: Anthony Riley Fundraiser for 59th Assembly District Seat

Anthony Riley, former Supervisor Gary Ovitt staffer and candidate for the 59th Assembly District to replace embattled Assemblyman Anthony Adams, held a fundraiser last night at the home of Dr. Barron Wilson in Apple Valley.  First District Supervisor Brad Mitzelfelt spoke as did Riley.

The event was well attended with about 70 in attendance. Riley has raised about $70,000 for his campaign so far.  Riley’s theme was “no new taxes” and he  slammed Anthony Adams for voting for the largest tax increase in state history.  He pledged he would never support a tax increase and to make the state live within its means. iePolitics: Well Mark Kirk, since you delete my text messages without reading them . . .

You force me to communicate with you publicly.  I know you feel all of us, not just me, but every one of us who was a victim of Mark Uffer and Andrew Lamberto, deserve what we have received for standing up for ourselves against dishonest, vindictive administrators.  All any of us want out of those who have the power to make things right is for you to take corrective action and do just that, make things right.

But you are so worried about getting Gary Ovitt re-elected that you have shirked your responsibility to employees and constituents alike.  The very people that voted Gary into office are rebelling.  Voters everywhere are sick and tired of incumbents who only care about themselves with little concern for their constituents.  Gary may very well be a man of integrity but he has let the voters of this county down. FlashReport: Who will Replace Anthony Adams?

This was sent to me by one of the candidates.  It makes interesting reading.  I’m also hearing rumors that Anthony Riley, former staffer for San Bernardino County Chairman of the Board and Vice President of the Hesperia School Board, is also contemplating a run.

by Mike Spence – Los Angeles County

1-19-2010 8:58 am

The surprise decision by Assemblyman Adams not to seek re-election to the 59th Assembly District has set off a scramble for the sprawling Los Angeles and San Bernardino County seat.

The 59th District contains all or parts of the Eastern Los Angeles County communities of. Los Angeles County communities of Claremont, La Verne, Glendora, San Dimas, Sierra Madre, Monrovia, Bradbury, Arcadia and La Crescenta then suddenly goes north through the Angeles Forest and East into San Bernardino to take in the San Bernardino County communities of Apple Valley, Hesperia, Lake Arrowhead, Crestline, San Bernardino, Highland and Mentone. It is a district that makes the case for redistricting reform. Continue reading
