iePolitics: Examiner Interviews

I had a very nice interview today with Acquanetta Warren, mayor of Fontana.  Last week I interviewed Jon Dumitru, a councilman from the city of Orange.  You may have heard Jon on the John and Ken show during one of his many appearances.  He is definitely a no-nonsense type of guy.  Well Acquanetta is a no-nonsense kind of person as well.  After talking with each I felt the Republican party isn’t quite yet dead.   Those interviews will be published next week.

I wanted to get a few interviews published and under my belt first before I started asking council persons, supervisors, and mayors from throughout Southern California for interviews who have no clue about me except for the blog as I know that will scare some off.  Now with Angela, that will give me three to publish in addition to the one already published on Ryan McEachron.  A couple of Assemblymembers have also agreed to interviews.

iePolitics: Campaign Night Events

My evening started at Eddie’s Cucina in Rancho Cucamonga.  My friend wanted to meet Eric Estrada, and Heaven knows a heck of a lot of this blog has been dedicated to Paul’ s campaign, so his gathering seemed to be the most logical.  It was attended by about 50 supporters and, of course, Eric Estrada.  I have to admit he doesn’t look much different than he did way back when in CHiPs.

Cheryl had to leave a bit early but I hung around until the 10:30 results.  When those didn’t happen I left.  I called my friend Ted to congratulate him on Janice Rutherford’s second-place win.  He said their party was still going on and invited me over.  He assured me there was no one there I didn’t want to run in to.

By the time I got there it was almost 11:30, so most were gone.  I understand they had about 120 there earlier including Upland Mayor JP Pomierski, Fontana Mayor Mark Nuaimi, Fontana Councilmembers Acquanetta Warren and John Roberts, Upland Councilmembers Ken Willis, Ray Musser, and Tom Thomas, Upland City Treasurer Dan Morgan, former Rancho Cucamonga Mayor Bill Alexander, and Rialto School Board member Joann Gilbert. iePolitics: The Race for the 63rd Assembly District

The 63rd Assembly District is one of two hotly contested Assembly seats in San Bernardino County.  There are seven Republicans vying for the Republican nomination, six of which are actively campaigning for the seat.  They are:  Mike Morrell, Paul Chabot, Acquanetta Warren, Pat Gilbreath, Henry Nickle, and Don Kurth.

This was both an easy and hard decision for me, not as to whom to vote for, as I don’t live in the district, but rather whom to support.  There are several very well qualified candidates.

There is only one candidate that I do not want to see win and that is Don Kurth.  He was a convicted drug felon in his 20s and served prison time.  Later in life he has had issues with domestic violence.  He has also had some serious financial problems.  But more important to me than any of that, Don, along with his campaign manager Jessica Austin, and campaign consultant Chris Jones, has run the single most unethical and dirty campaign in all of San Bernardino County.  None of the three of them appear to have any ethics or integrity whatsoever.  What they have done is shameful.  And it would be shameful if a RINO such as Don Kurth received the Republican Party’s nod. iePolitics: Lewis Homes Supports Bigotry?

I am very disgusted right now with Lewis Homes and one of the candidates they heavily support.  That candidate is Acquanetta Warren.  Dirty campaigning is expected in any race.  But some things cross the line.  Acquanetta, of all people, should have a deep understanding of the concept of bigotry and know how it feels to be discriminated for something over which one has no control.  And sometimes that bigotry is based on false accusations. Mike Morrell: Morrell Leads All Candidates in Donors from 63rd District

Outraises all other candidates this quarter

Upland, California – Conservative candidate Mike Morrell, a 25-year small businessman and job creator, far outpaces his rivals for the Republican nomination in district-based donors. The March 17 finance report shows that he has the strongest base of local support and the best ability to encourage new voters to become involved in the Republican party. Continue reading

Acquanetta Warren: Warren earns another endorsement: Assemblyman and former Riverside County Republican Party Chairman Kevin Jeffries

UPLAND – Today, Councilwoman Acquanetta Warren received yet another big endorsement – former Riverside County Republican Party Chair and now Assemblyman Kevin Jeffries.

“I’m really honored that so many conservative and Republican leaders have decided to support me,” said Warren, a former Vice Chair of the California Republican Party who is serving her third term on the Fontana.

Acquanetta Warren has raised more money than any other candidate and has built an impressive list of local endorsements, including:

  • Upland Mayor John “JP” Pomierski
  • Former Rancho Cucamonga Mayor Bill Alexander
  • Highland Mayor Penny Lilburn
  • Colton Mayor Kelly Chastain
  • Fontana Councilmembers John Roberts and Janice Rutherford

Acquanetta Warren: It’s Still a Tax, Stupid . . . No Matter How You Hide It

Acquanetta Warren is the Vice Mayor of Fontana, former Republican Party Vice Chair and candidate for the 63rd Assembly District.  Visit her website at:  www.acquanetta.org

Halloween is over, but the fright is just beginning.  At a time when taxpayers are struggling with a faltering economy, falling housing equity, declining value of their retirement investments and education savings, salary cuts or jobs losses, and reduced public safety services, the state is there to help by adding to the burden.  Talk about dumb.

It shouldn’t be allowed to happen, but it is—and at the worst time possible.  I’m talking about a triple whammy tax increase:  a quarter percent income tax increase and a reduction in the dependent tax credit coupled with a 10 percent tax increase.
