Last week, San Bernardino County Fourth District Supervisor Curt Hagman was re-elected as chairman of the San Bernardino County Republican Party without challenge despite rumors that former chairman, Robert Rego, planned to oppose him for the position. Hagman unseated Rego two years ago in what can only be called a “coup.” The party was in dire financial straits at the time and San Bernardino County went from Red to Blue under Rego’s leadership.
At stake this time around was funding for voter registration, mapping and outreach. The state party has been reluctant to fund county activities due to inept past leadership.
