City Councilman Ed Camargo did not show for last night’s regularly scheduled Adelanto City Council meeting. Multiple sources say his absence was due to allegations by a city employee that he acted unprofessionally and created a hostile work environment. Those allegations were detailed in an email sent by the employee to each of the council members earlier this month.
According to a quote from Mayor Richard Kerr on Monday regarding the email, an investigation has been initiated. The city manager’s office today refused to verify that an investigation is taking place and said that what was in the email was all they would release. Individuals close to the source, however, tell Examiner.com that not only is an investigation in the works, but Camargo has agreed to stay away from city property and events until it is completed.
In the July 9 email, obtained by Examiner.com through a California Public Records Act request, Management Analyst Lilly Saucedo confronted Camargo over his behavior towards her. Included in the email was Saucedo’s assertion that Camargo was interested in having a personal relationship with her.
