On Wednesday, several local elected officials spoke with Examiner.com off the record over the threat that San Bernardino County First District Supervisor Robert Lovingood made to Apple Valley Mayor Barb Stanton regarding completion of the Yucca Loma Corridor project. That project has been in the works for years and is recognized as a major move towards relieving traffic congestion in the Victor Valley, especially Apple Valley.
Lovingood wanted Stanton and other high desert mayors to vote to appoint Victorville Mayor pro tem Jim Cox to the Local Agency Formation Commission (LAFCO). No one knows the real reason why this was so important to Lovingood and Councilman Ryan McEachron, but it was important enough that Lovingood threatened Stanton with the Yucca Loma Corridor project never being completed if she didn’t support Cox. McEachron sent an email to her, which does not threaten but had a similar feel to it as Lovingood’s threat. McEachron’s email read:
