Tim Donnelly for second district supervisor?

Tim Donnelly

Two people in the last twelve hours have mentioned that possibility to me.  As much as it repulses me, it also intrigues me.

I don’t think there is anyone who doesn’t know how I feel about Tim Donnelly.  Thankfully, I don’t live in the Second District so I can’t vote in that race.  If I did, it would be like an election many years ago for a judgeship in Victorville.  Private attorney Tony Piazza was running against Deputy Public Defender Nick DePrisco.  At the time I could not stand either one of them.  I remember literally flipping a coin, over and over, because I could not bear to vote for either.  I cannot remember now if I voted for one of them or wrote in “Mickey Mouse.”

For the record, DePrisco lost the judgeship election but went on to become a councilman with the Town of Apple Valley.  He was one of the best ever.  I gained a lot of respect for him over time.  Piazza was as big of an ass on the bench as he was in the courtroom as an attorney.  Karma got him not too much later.

So, which would be the lesser of two evils:  Janice Rutherford or Tim Donnelly?  I’m not sure except to say I don’t think Donnelly would put up with CEO Greg Devereaux micromanaging him and his staff for very long.

Personally, I’d like to see Paul Chabot challenge Rutherford.  I think he would make a much better county supervisor than congressman.

Rumor has it that there will be a strong candidate put up against Rutherford next time around.  If she continues to screw over employees, I think with the Teamsters in town, that is a given.

In the end, the Second District Supervisor needs to be shown the door.  I’m just not so sure I could stomach Tim Donnelly in her place but I sure would enjoy watching that showdown.  I also know there are a heck of a lot of constituents who feel differently.
