Lack of access to nutritious foods like fresh fruits and vegetables has become a significant public health issue in the United States.  Unfortunately, an estimated 23.5 million Americans live in food deserts – communities where there is limited or no access to foods necessary to maintain a healthy diet.

The proliferation of food deserts has played a significant role in the growth of childhood obesity rates, which have more than tripled in the past 30 years.  With obesity related health care now costing our nation over $147 billion annually, the growth in childhood obesity has an extremely detrimental impact on America’s future economic outlook.

Advocates and nutrition experts agree that any comprehensive policy strategy to eliminate the childhood obesity crisis must include a strong focus on physical activity, nutrition education, and greater access to affordable, nutritious foods.  To help ensure better access to healthy foods, I have introduced legislation to promote more fresh fruit and vegetable production in America through the use of tax incentives.  The Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Grower Tax Incentive Act amends the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to allow for a $10,000 tax credit to farmers whose annual farming income is less than $500,000, with at least 75% of that farming income being attributable to the sale of fruits and vegetables.

This responsible bill provides incentives that will increase the number of fruit and vegetable growers in America, and help to end the food access crisis that is negatively impacting the health of our nation.  My legislation can serve as an important first step in permanently erasing food deserts and ensuring all Americans have access to fresh, healthy foods.  I will continue to work in Congress to find solutions to the childhood obesity epidemic.

I am pleased to share with you new provisions of health care reform that will make preventive care more accessible and affordable. These new regulations, authorized by the Affordable Care Act, require new health plans to cover preventive services at no cost to the patient. Americans currently use preventive services at only half of the recommended rate because of their prohibitive costs.

Comprehensive preventive care can save billions of dollars and thousands of lives. According to statistics from the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), seven in ten deaths in America result from chronic and often preventable diseases. HHS data also shows that 69 million workers report missed days due to illness each year, which reduces economic output in this country by $260 billion per year. I believe we must do better, and this historic health reform legislation will keep many Americans, especially Inland residents, healthier and save our nation money in the long run.

Americans who enroll in a new health plan on or after September 23, 2010, will have access to preventive services without being charged a deductible or a copayment. Depending on your age and health risks, the types of preventative services that will be available without a deductible, co-pay or co-insurance include:

• Blood pressure, diabetes, and cholesterol tests;
• Cancer screenings;
• Routine vaccines for diseases such as measles, polio, and meningitis;
• Flu and pneumonia shots;
• Counseling, screening and vaccines for healthy pregnancies; and
• Regular well-baby and well-child visits, from birth to age 21

With the leadership of the President and Congress, we have worked to make quality, affordable health care a right for every American. Rest assured that I will continue to fight so that the American people – not insurance companies – are in control of their health care decisions.

As a strong Republican, I believe our Constitutional Principles, are being threatened by the factions of a Socialist mind and trying to bring balance to a divided House is difficult; however, with conviction of values fixed deep within my soul, I have been “on a mission”, to exalt this position, as set forth by the Oath everyone takes when signing in for the Office.

Why am I interested in such an office, you might ask?

1. The convergence of interest and morality, has brought an enormous disadvantage to Congress, as our Economic Infrastructure wanes in the balance of a once, wealthy nation.

2. The moral and virtuous framework of our freedoms with respect to liberty, justice and the over-all respect of property seems to be by the demand of the current administration and not by the Bill of Rights, Constitution, and the Declaration of Independence.

3. I would like to implement the ethical traditions of our Constitution, which once was the driving force of “EXCELLENCE” in the US.

4. The lack of commonality for the seriousness of these problems, has given way for the BREACH in our system and has lowered our “Standard of Living”, while the general provisions of human values
are inadequate to sustain our citizens in their general welfare of Employment.

WE MUST WIN THE AMERICAN PEOPLE BY REASON OF AN ETHICAL APPROACH, least we be taken over by a third world mind. We have policies, laws, and procedures, as set forth by our coveted freedoms, and third world minds trying make “changes, when they don’t have enough potable water to flush a toilet. I find this to be an ignorant mindset, and how long will it take before it’s too late???
