iePolitics: Google +
I am attempting to sign up for all major social media to promote the blog and my Examiner articles. In some cases I really don’t know what I am doing as was proved a few weeks ago when I tried to add friends to my LinkedIn account and ended up sending invite to those few thousand email address in my Google address book.
Now I just tried the same thing with Google+ and I have no clue if I added anyone or not. I guess I will know in a day or two.
Google+ is adding something like 600,000 new accounts a day so it seemed like a good idea. They say once you’ve tried Google+ you will never want to go back to Facebook.
Anyway, if anyone is already a member, I would appreciate an add so I can see why it is so much better than Facebook.
iePolitics: Blog changes
The blog is changing effective January 1, 2011 at 12:01 a.m. Everything on the blog up until that point will continue to exist at iepolitics.net.
I am going to start iePolitics.com over from scratch. There are a few reasons for that.
First, we’ve gotten a bit wimpy lately and I don’t like it. It’s time to get back to business in California’s most corrupt county.
Second, the blog is getting slower and slower. It’s time for a new format and to get away from some of the dead weight.
Third, a new year is a good time for a new beginning. It’s time to push some things behind me and start anew with a fresh and sassy attitude.
iePolitics: Skype
Are there any Skype users out there? My nickname is what else? iePolitics. Or you can find me with iepolitics2010@gmail.com.
I am wondering if anyone else gets voicemails entitled “urgent” or “warning.” I keep getting them but haven’t been able to access them. I don’t know if I should be concerned or not.
Anyway, it is highly unlikely you will ever find me live on Skype, but for those who don’t have my phone number, you can leave a message there.
iePolitics: Frustration
Yesterday I was a bit frustrated as evidenced by my Editor’s Note on the “No room at the inn” article. I was using a library computer and almost got the article done when the library censors decided to strike again. I had both the Examiner and the BillPostmus.net windows open when the censors decided that they were inappropriate for county computers. I tried everything to no avail. Finally, I cleared the cache and it allowed me to go back into Examiner but not BillPostmus.net. However, it would not allow me to do much, thus an article posted with few hyperlinks, etc. It censored me a second time and I gave up. So the blog entry was a bit curt as I was not a happy camper.
I added a link today so you can actually get to the story. Despite the lack of hyperlinks, my story once again was selected for the front page so we received a lot of hits despite the county’s attempt to the contrary.
iePolitics: WOW!! Maybe one of the attorneys who reads the blog will give us an opinion
This decision regarding free speech and the use of blogs, Twitter, etc., was issued yesterday by Federal Judge Roger Titus out of the district of Maryland. It has to do with the actions of a Lucerne Valley resident. Here is a link: Order If you look around the site, there is quite of bit of related information.
I do not have enough internet access to read the whole thing so I would really appreciate hearing opinions from those of you that can stand to read 21 pages of legal writing. From what I did read, I believe this is an important order.
iePolitics: Blog performance
I have received several complaints that the blog has become slow to load. I removed the two new programs I added. Please let me know if this helps.
iePolitics: Blog content
I am seriously struggling trying to come up with political stories. I know everyone wants the inside scoop on the Colonies situation but I’m in a situation where it is difficult to discuss it without betraying confidences. Other than that, there doesn’t seem to be a whole lot going on. If anyone has any great ideas, please pass them along. Anonymous tips can still be sent to PO Box 2722, Apple Valley, CA 92307.
iePolitics: Prime minister and more
We have been working on Bill’s blog for the past few days. There are several changes. The most fun of all is the addition of Prime Minister’s Questions. Check it out. Congress looks so boring in comparison. Prime Minister
iePolitics: Our 15,000th comment
Well ACU, you are No. 15,000. The current version of the blog is not quite two years old. There have been 2758 posts with a total of 15,000 comments. Since its inception we have posted more than 10,000 stories and received 35,000 comments.
Our goal has always been to average 4 comments per story and we have been exceeding that goal for some time. We are getting closer to 6 comments per story. We appreciate your continued support especially in light of the fact I have had so little ability to keep the blog updated for quite a while now. I’m trying to make things change.
Thank you once again.
iePolitics: Day 24 and counting
I am now on Day 24 of the bug from hell. I’m starting to feel a bit better but still not up to much blogging. All I really want to do is sleep. I have a ton of articles in the works that I hope to get posted in the next few days. Please keep checking back. I appreciate your continued readership.

iePolitics: 17 days and counting
It’s been 17 days since I picked up the bug from hell. I can’t seem to get over it. I am not sure why it has hit be so hard except my immune system must have been compromised. I will try to get this blog updated tomorrow (Friday) for those who wonder if there will ever be anything new. In the meantime, Happy Veterans Day to all who served our country.
iePolitics: Some Google news
Here it is: Google
iePolitics: Any cell phone experts out there?
I have used Straight Talk for about the past year. It works for me because it is $45 a month, unlimited phone, internet, and text. If I don’t have $45 to buy a new service card, then I go without phone service until I do without reconnection fees, late fees, etc. It works for me except for the customer service somewhere in another part of the world where English is not mandatory.
I have the cheapest phone available at the time, which was about $20. That phone is quickly dying and I am going to have to replace it. Straight Talk has now added a couple of higher-end phones including one that is Android-powered. I am sorta looking at this one: http://www.shopstraighttalk.com/bpdirect/straighttalk/PhoneDetails.do?action=view&productVariantExtensionId=114205 Continue reading
iePolitics: A new way to deal with the Sentinel
There has been ongoing issues trying to post the Sentinel to blog. We have not been able to be consistent for a variety of issues. I finally asked Mark to send me one story each week that would like be of interest to our readers and the link to his newspaper. I am posting the first few paragraphs of that story and then you can click on the link to read the rest of the story and the rest of the newspaper.
My feeling is this will bring Mark more readers and give us some consistency in getting the paper linked on a regular basis.
iePolitics: A few ramblings
In the past several days I have had a chance to meet several regular and not-so-regular readers of iePolitics. It is always interesting for me to do so because so many people have preconceived notions of what I’m about. It is also always interesting to see what touches a nerve and what doesn’t.
For example, in the past two days I have met both a retired lawyer and a retired cop. The cop was quick to point out he did not work for SBSD. I wonder why he thought that would matter to me?
iePolitics: A gentle reminder
Several months ago I took down the PayPal button and stopped asking for donations to keep the blog going because I was tired of the grief it caused. I have been trying to keep it going through earnings from Examiner.com. Between the low pay and my lack of internet access, we are barely limping along.
I am asking again to click on my Examiner articles if you are not doing so. Here are links to the last few:
Politico: Google: Demands for user data up
Google received 29 percent more government requests for user data in the U.S. during the first six months of 2011 compared to the last half of 2010, the company reported Tuesday.
The company complied with 93 percent of the 5,950 government requests for user data it received during that time frame.
In addition, there were 70 percent more government requests in the U.S. to remove content from its various services — from YouTube to Web searches to Gmail — during the same time period.
“Like other technology and communications companies, Google regularly receives requests from government agencies and courts around the world to remove content from our services and hand over user data,” the company said on its website in reporting the data.
There are some requests from local law enforcement agencies that Google turned down.
“We received a request from a local law enforcement agency to remove YouTube videos of police brutality, which we did not remove,” Google said. “Separately, we received requests from a different local law enforcement agency for removal of videos allegedly defaming law enforcement officials. We did not comply with those requests, which we have categorized in this report as defamation requests.”
Government requests for user data rose from Google rose in several different countries around the world — including France, Germany, South Korea and Spain, according to the company’s report.
Google also reported that content takedown requests were up from other governments, including the U.K., where requests increased by 71 percent.

iePolitics: Excuse me
I have a lot of bloggers I owe information/phone calls to. My internet access is so limited right now that I just don’t have time to keep up. For those in Trona, the lady next to the freeway in SB, and Raisuli, I have not forgotten you. If I have not mentioned you, your email is probably so buried, I will never find it. Please email me again at iepolitics2010@gmail.com.
Things will hopefully slow down a bit mid-November and I will have a better internet connection. Please continue to send tips and information for posts.
Also, does anyone have an update on the autopsy on the gentleman from Lake Arrowhead? How about the Rutherford recall? Opponents for Brad? Where Lewis is running?
iePolitics: For those that are wondering
A while back I asked Raisuli to write for iePolitics and set him up with an account. I did not realize that when I set up the account that I did not give him posting privileges. And I have not received any automatic email letting me know that he has been submitting stories. I discovered several submissions today. I approved them all. Hopefully in the future we will have our act together better.
iePolitics: The blog
A new version of the template for this blog came out today, so I updated. As you can see, it made the print much larger. The larger print bugs me, but of course I am nearsighted. Changing it back requires me to adjust the CSS, which was a pain in the butt to begin with. I thought I would ask you, the readers, if you would prefer to go back to the smaller print or leave it as is.
FYI, I am planning a complete revamp of the blog for the new year. I plan to move everything from iepolitics.com to iepolitics.net and then start the new year off with a completely different theme and change a few of the ways I do things for all new iepolitics.com entries, including trying to be more consistent with style, correct grammar, and quality. First I have to find a template I like. I will keep you posted.
iePolitics: The Sentinel
So far I have only received the .pdf version of today’s edition, which is too large to download. If you would like it forwarded to you, email me.
iePolitics: Glenn Beck show for children
Bill has an interesting article about the new show on his blog: Glenn Beck
iePolitics: The Sentinel
Mark sent me the Goggle Docs version of the Sentinel: Sentinel
iePolitics: The Sentinel
I did not post a link this week because I did not receive it. Mark, what’s up?
iePolitics: The Sentinel
This week Mark sent it as a .pdf which is too large to download. If you would like to view it, email me and I will forward it to you.
iePolitics: FYI
I am going to be out of pocket for a while. It could be a day or it could be a week. Don’t get upset if your comments don’t get approved. They will be once one of us is near an internet connection.
iePolitics: Save the what!!?
I received this email the other day:
Dear Admin,
Would like your help in mounting a campaign to save the Statistical Abstract from being abolished. Robert Samuelson wrote about it in the Washington Post – linked to by RealClearPolitics.com.
I believe the Abstract is an invaluable tool for many in the public to be able to track important changes in our nation. Is is cost-cutting, or convenience to make it harder or impossible to keep track of these facts and figures?
Very Respectfully,
iePolitics: A blog and a website
First, a friend of one of my attorneys has become a fan of the blog. She sent me an email recommending another corruption-related blog regarding our neighbors just to the south. It appears to be more than worth of an addition to our blogroll. It is called: www.thirtymilesofcorruption.com
Second, a friend has started a new venture. Here is her new website: www.5starRatedBusiness.com.
iePolitics: Two new websites
Today I have added two new websites to the blogroll. First, of course, is www.ReformSBCounty.com and a second one I don’t think Supervisor Mitzelfelt will like much either, www.ieNewsNow.com. Both are still under construction.
iePolitics: Blog Advisory
The big announcement I have been hinting at since early this year is finally upon us. It is scheduled for Monday at 11 a.m. Press releases will be going out at that time and an Examiner article will post to the blog. If I should drop dead between now and then, there is a backup plan so that it all still happens with or without me.
iePolitics: Attention Bloggers
This is for those who have their own political blogs or small newspapers in San Bernrdino County or run San Bernardino County stories. I seem to be missing emails for most of you and trying to find you on Facebook has been a problem. If you want to be on the press release list for the big project I’ve been talking about for months, I need your email address. Send it to me at iepolitics2010@gmail.com asap.
iePolitics: Thank you
My life seems to change drastically day by day and that has been especially true for the past few months. For the last few days you guys have been great about clicking on the Examiner.com articles. I hope you will contine.
It’s hard to tell when I will have internet access but I am trying. We still have a big announcement coming, but nothing ever happens as quickly as you want it.
Anyway, thank you everyone.
iePolitics: The blog again
We are kind of back to square one in regards to the blog. I am not going to go into detail as to what is going on because I don’t feel like the grief I get when I do.
I will tell you this. I am going to post as much as I can tonight on some of the stories I have been promising. I plan to set some of them for future dates. I do not expect to be able to update the blog for another week. I also will not be available by phone, text, Facebook or email during that period.
iePolitics: A new attorney to the blogroll
A friend of mine has been very, very impressed with his Workers’ Compensation attorney so I have added him to the blogroll. The firm is Gordon, Edelstein, Krepack, Grant, Felton, and Goldstein. The attorney is Steven Scardino. His phone number is (213) 739-7000.
iePolitics: Raisuli, can you contact me
My email address is iepolitics2010@gmail.com.
iePolitics: I was up bright and early this morning
That is something that NEVER happens. I’m a night owl for one but also some of my health issues make mornings torture. However, today I did not have a choice as there was something in town that required my attention. I walked into Starbucks to set up shop. My favorite seats were taken by a group of senior citizen males. They looked familiar but their identities did not register and my still asleep brain.
iePolitics: Examiner articles
I have received lots of feedback from you guys regarding trying to leave comments. I haven’t tried to leave one in a while, and the last time I did, it was no different than leaving one on the blog. I see they changed that.
So, for those who still want to try, click on the article. If you can, subscribe to the feed. You only have to do that twice, once for the Los Angeles articles and once for the Palm Springs articles and then from there you will never have to do it again.
If you are on Facebook and will “like” and/or “share” that would be great. And finally, if you have the patience, click on an advertiser.
I will try to have a little more patience myself as I try to make this happen.
iePolitics: The Blog
Nothing seems to be working in terms of forwarding the blog or trying to shut it down AND preserve its contents. So, the blog will be up but will only be updated when and if I feel like with what I feel like posting. Live with it.
iePolitics: Thanks
Thank you to those who helped me figure out how to get my photos off of Flickr. It worked. Above is the last snake I caught from a better time in my life.
Also, thank you to those who sent donations. I told you NO but you guys don’t listen!! It’s appreciated. However, my resolve stands as far as making this blog self-sufficient and moving it off shore. I may have an Examiner article up tonight or the first one may go up tomorrow night. I will provide all the instructions then.
iePolitics: The blog, etc.
I was working from Yucca Valley last night. Little did I know the whole place shuts down at 9 p.m. so I lost my internet connection early and never got all my posts done. I also didn’t get Bill’s posts done. Check out www.BillPostmus.net if you would like to read national items.
I appreciate all the responses and I am going to try to get a post out before the end of the night (my night that is).
iePolitics: A decision about the blog
Taking a few days away from the blog allowed me some time to put things in perspective. I guess the bottom line is that after five years of doing this, the last eighteen months of which has been trying to keep it afloat without a paycheck, I’m tired of readers telling me that I “must” keep the blog going while only receiving lackluster support.
Some months ago, after a ton of encouragement from others, I added the PayPal button so that at least the hosting fees could get paid. I try to get posts up from Starbucks, McDonald’s, Denny’s, the library, or wherever I can find an internet connection, whenever I can make it into the big city. I have tried several things to get the internet at home but I seem to live in a dead zone as nothing works (same goes for my cell phone and radio).
iePolitics: The blog
I almost have my stories caught up. I’m taking the next few days off from the blog. Unless I make it to the library, there won’t be anything new until Monday or Tuesday.
So enjoy Independence Day. Remember those who fought for our freedom and those who founded this great country so that we could have the freedom to blog and say what we want about our elected and appointed leaders. Continue reading
iePolitics: The blog
I haven’t had time to explain the most recent issues with the blog. It was not down due to financial issues. Someone wanted it down and there shall be lots of hints in the near future as to whom that might of been. As they say, the pen is mightier than the sword and hell has seen no fury . . .. I will leave the rest to your imagination.
iePolitics: The blog
I have not felt the least bit motivated to write this past week. I guess you all can tell!
This would be the perfect time for submissions and/or topic ideas. I will try to get back on track next week.
iePolitics: Tips
We have been receiving some tips but I have tips for all of you who want to give us tips. Please, please, please either send your tips to PO Box 2722, Apple Valley, CA 92307 (safest method) or email them to iepolitics2010@gmail.com. If you don’t see an acknowledgement on the blog or via email, it likely means I did not receive what you sent. I’m having email issues again.
Now for a few specific tips:
To the person who sent me the information some time ago on Megan Mitzelfelt, it hasn’t been forgotten. I’m just waiting for it to be closer to the election.
iePolitics: A new blog
How many of you remember the interview George Watson conducted with Bill Postmus a few years ago? It was while Bill was still Assessor. George posted the audio of the interview to the Sun site.
I was in Gallop, New Mexico that day working on a site for some missionaries when I received a call from Paul Bosacki asking if I had listened to the interview, which I had not. A high-speed internet connection was very hard to find in Gallop. George called me a little later to tell me about it as well.
iePolitics: A new blog
Blogging is definitely not for the faint of heart or for the thin skinned. It does not matter what one writes, someone will take exception to it and will use a number of expletives in the process. The anonymity of blogging brings out people’s dark sides. Blogging also brings out truths that otherwise would not see the light of day. It’s up to the readers to muddle through and decide for themselves what is truth and what is not..
Sometimes things that are written are just not true and other times the truth hurts a lot. Whether it is the truth or not, most want to defend their good names. Some go so far as to fight fire with fire.
iePoilitics: Criminal grand jury and attorney referrals
As I have tried to research criminal grand juries in California, I have found there is very little information except for brief overviews about what they do. I, myself, really don’t understand the process and all the intricacies involved. I’m wondering if we have anyone out there who is knowledgeable and would be willing to write a piece for us as I believe there is a lot of misinformation and misconceptions about the process and what we should expect over the next weeks.
