It seems like no matter how often the tragic results are reported on the 6 o’clock news, irresponsible pet owners and parents continue to leave pets and/or their young children unattended in hot cars. These unnecessary tragedies not only destroy lives but only add to an already overburdened criminal justice system.
San Bernardino County District Attorney Mike Ramos, whose office is responsible for prosecuting these cases, decided to try another approach to get through to those who seem to lack common sense on hot days. Along with his Public Information Officer, Christopher Lee, he created the first in a series of public service announcements to remind pet owners that it is not acceptable to leave a pet in a hot car, even for a few moments.
