iePolitics: Blog hits

If we continue at the pace we are at for the next little while, we will exceed 70,000 blogs hits today.  That’s far from a record but it is in the top 10.

When we have days like today I like to look at what people are reading.  The highest ranking article is the Public Defender timeline.  After that two of the Neil Derry pieces and two of the Sheriff’s Department pieces.  Next is the story on environmental wackos.  Rounding out the top ten is the Mitzelfelt piece, the Ruthie piece, and another Derry and SD piece.

I am a little surprised the Public Defender piece is the highest ranking, but it is being read by law firms around the state.  I’m sure they find our County Counsel as comical as we do.

The FBI was on the site a few times today visiting the pieces on Scott Ryan, Gary Ovitt and Bob Blough.  I hope that is a good sign.  On that note, I know several readers have emailed the information to John and Ken at KFI.  Everyone knows how J&K feel about unions and corrupt public officials.  It would be great if they picked up the SBPEA/SEBA story.  A few more readers emailing wouldn’t hurt.

I’ve noticed Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department has really picked up on the blog.  In the beginning I assumed it was Paul Schrader, but now we are getting hits from them at all times of the day and night.  And they seem to concentrate on the county’s corruption scandal.  Makes me wonder what is going on—like maybe Pomona or another close by city has some connections?  I don’t know.  Maybe they just enjoy how screwed up we are over here.

I also noticed today that we had very few hits from county computers.  I’m sure someone got a hair up their butt over one of the postings.  I’d like to think it wasn’t Neil, but Greg is always a possibility.  Well, if it was you Greg, learn from your predecessor’s mistakes:  blocking iePolitics on county computers ALWAYS increases our readership.  I hear from lots of employees now that they just use their Blackberries or laptops to read what we have to say on county time—during their breaks of course.

And finally, I’m sure everyone has noticed for several weeks now it has been feast or famine, mostly famine, on the blog.  I’ve been really sick for about three weeks and trying to blog while laying down most days just isn’t worth the effort.  So, I especially appreciate the high numbers the last few days.  As always, whether you hate what we do or love it, we appreciate your readership.
