Summary: The sinking ship known as the Southwest Riverside County Tea Party Citizens in Action Group spurs ignorance and causes further damage to Tea Party and GOP image. July 30th plans to protest the existing Temecula mosque shows SWRC Tea Party is spurred by hatred of Islam. By bringing dogs to mosque grounds, singing in protest of belief that Muslim women are forbidden to sing, and with local pastor claiming that the mosque will increase presence of Muslim extremists, group proves to be out of touch with reality.
Heightened tension between Islam and self-proclaimed American Patriots are on the rise. With the Ground Zero mosque protests inciting nation-wide Islamophobia paired with accusations of Tea Party racism, it’s no wonder that one of the biggest battle grounds that brings these two heavyweight issues face to face is in our own backyard – Temecula, California.
The city of Temecula has a Muslim demographic. The Muslim demographic have long since had a place of worship. However, they needed time to raise funds to convert a basic warehouse like structure into a proper mosque.
While that doesn’t necessarily mean minarets, it does mean having a center that allows Muslims to have a building with a layout that has functionality – just like any center, religious or not, would need in order to be an effective use of space.
Muslims from the Temecula mosque took the time and effort to raise the money and they have a right to convert their makeshift warehouse mosque into something that makes sense and is in keeping with local ordinances. As far as I know, there are no zoning issues or other complications. There is no local history of association with fringe radical groups or suspicious individuals.

These protest are not productive, the local pastor is afraid that his congregation will convert to Islam once they find what Islam is all about, Terrorist do not represent majority of Islamic people, Its about time these people understand religion and understand people of various cultures here and to take time to read waht Islam is all about. Most people thik Islam is Anti-Christ.

No, there aren’t any zoning issues. Places of worship can be built just about anywhere, but has to go through the planning vetting process. Surrounding property owners are notified and can voice their approval or disapproval at the planning hearing/commission.
I just wonder where they got their funding for the mosque, hmm? They probably didn’t get the money for development of the mosque by holding car washes though.

Islam and Muslim are two different things with a very simple difference: an Islamist wants to cut your throat while Muslims want to breed you out of power. Both are very dangerous if left unchecked: uh, see France and the rest of the EU as an example.

Any intelligence agency will use knowledge of another culture’s ways, blend in, and then use that foothold to change that culture to its own cluture’s ways. It is not as if the USA has never done this abroad. We wrote the book, and Osama Bin Laden read the book.
Even if the vast majority of Muslims in the US truely want to blend into our society, there is a significant faction of agents who want to use our religious tollerance to gain a foothold and to establish religious intollerace through their laws.
It has been well established that these people organize in the mosques and in the prisons. It is not irrational for people to fear the mosques. They have seen the end results on 9/11, at Fort Hood, and on other occasions worldwide. It is not hate but the desire for self preservation to resist.
Still, I don;t know at this time if the construction of a place of worship can be stopped under the rules of the society that we are trying to preserve.
Problem is Christians could be radical too. How about the American Christians who advocate for the execution of LGBT people in places outside the United States.

Personally religious intollerance can be done by anyone, secularlists, christians or islamic people. Maybe we need to have tighter checks and balances so individual expression could be preserved.
Ground Zero No way, Temecula or any other town in America I have no qualms.

We have become too politically correct and passive toward those who’d do us harm.

Then why don’t the peace loving Muslims speak up about the terrorists? They know who they are, they know where they live, yet they do nothing to stop them. Here in America we speak up when we see injustice and/or terrorist acts — that’s why the Tea Party people exist. They’re expressing their views about the corruption and lack of accountability that exists today. Again, must we explain it is not about race or religion, it is that you break the law or present a threat of some sort. If I knew my neighbor was planning something that would harm others, I would speak up….why won’t they? Have you seen the signs they carry in their parades? “Kill all infidels” “Behead those who do not believe” and so on….it’s really ugly. We let them immigrate here and then have to put up with their hatred of us. What a country!

You read something like that – and assume the comment was intended to be taken seriously – and you just know America is in BIG trouble.
Matt, your view of Muslims is sweet but naive. Please search the internet for the videos of the beheading of Daniel Pearl, 4 South Korean workers, and a variety of other civilians assisting in the rebuilding of Iraq. Then, as Nature Girl alluded to, search the internet for all the Muslim religions world wide, not just factions, for the numbers of speeches denouncing such terrorist acts.
After that, you can search for all the statements released by Christian organizations denouncing the killing of abortion doctors, homosexuals, or whatever else you are trying to equivalate to Islamic terror. Oh, and if you think Muslims are any more tolerant of LGBT, please hop on a plane and head over to any predominantly Muslim country and start a Gay Marriage protest march. I’m don’t think you will get a permit for the parade.
This is the crap the government wants us to argue and fight about. Until the American people open their eyes and realize that Islam is a government scapegoat to stage false flag operations and wage world war we are doomed. Open your eyes people the real enemy is already invaded it’s your CEOs and banksters and the federal reserve.

You seem to have missed the whole point of the topic here.
Matt, there is so much to say. First Christians should be radical. First, they should understand that God created the world and mankind. Second they should understand God’s perfection and know that they themselves should be perfect. Third, they should realize that they themselves have been born with a free will, which means that they can choose not to behave perfectly, and by their sin nature, ultimately will choose actions that are not perfect. Fourth, in recognition that all fall short of the will of God in this way, they should forgive others in the manner that they want to be forgiven by God.
First, knowledge of what is apparent or knowable. Second, desire and judge what is good. Third realize that you yourself are imperfect and need forgiveness. Fourth, judge not, lest you be so judged. This does not mean that you can not use the judgement in step two, it means only that you can only judge in the manner in which you are willing to be judged yourself.
I think that your problem is with people who follow steps one and two and neglect three and four. These people may think that they are Christians and loudly call themselves Christians, but they are stumbling on steps three and four and are really only halfway there. Not making a good case for Christianity at all.
Now the question is, are Muslims who call for violent judgement against “unbelievers” similarly misconstruing the teachings of Islam, or is there something inherent in the teaching of Islam that is more sinister.
