Let us be very clear. Sam Berdoo attacked no one, is not angry, and holds no grudge. All Sam did was post the articles and comments of other people. This is a common practice on ie.politics and one I hope will continue. No where can it be pointed out, that Sam Berdoo wrote any thing disparaging about Derry or the others. All Sam has done is remind the populous about the relationships that exist within the all pervasive culture of corruption.
As for Joe Turner, the story and image were published in the local Alpenhorn newspaper in response to Derry’s hiring of Turner. Just because time has passed by, and Turner has been muzzled, does not make Turner an okay guy. I, for one, would never, ever, ever had my picture taken with a mob of racist, neo-nazi, skin-heads. Lest we not forget, there are still those in the world who deny that the holocaust ever took place, and that Adolf Hitler loved children and he was just misunderstood.
John Valdivia’s comments were posted on an article appearing in the Sun newspaper last week regarding the questionable behavior of San Bernardino Councilman, Jason Desjardins. No one seemed to care about his remarks then. Now that the Valdivia comments were re-posted on ie.politics, Derry and Valdivia are crying foul. As far as I can tell, those remarks could have only been made by the real John Valdivia. I can see why Derry would be upset and rightfully so. Valdivia got caught talking out of school and now must suffer the consequences of his ill spoken words.
Now, it seems to me that Derry and Senor Blogger want to change the narrative by attacking the messenger by making these unfair and unsubstantiated criticisms of Sam. Just like Sam, Senor Blogger is also another pseudonym and anonymous writer.
God bless free speech and the First Amendment.
Joe was in a public crosswalk. That could happen to anyone. I found a similar situation at tea party events. Does that mean Tea Partiers are Nazi, racists, or part of any other fringe group that shows up to a public event? No.
Reposting an inaccurate article from the Alpenhorn, that repository of journalistic excellence, is little more than repeating the same lie, which makes you just as guilty as the person who wrote it.
This is the same Alpenhorn whose editor violated basic journalistic ethics by using his pseudo-newspaper for his own campaign.
It isn’t attacking the messenger by pointing out the false diatribes he reposts…You Are Guilty.
Hello, Hello. Who are you to say what is accurate or not? Who appointed you as the “fact checker”? If you have a beef with the editor, take it up with him. I do not make the news, I just pass it on.
Posting his crap along with DUI checkpoint information is idiotic.
The comments you are seeing from Steve Brow and the Administrator are enough to prove them.. All the other stuff in the post is conjecture and character assasination and you should be ashamed to have reposted it.
Grow up: Please give Sam Berdoo a break.
I don’t think Sam Berdoo posted anything to do with DUI checkpoints. That would be me, Beaufort. I was only doing a public service to enhance safety in our community.
If the content of this blog gets people so upset, perhaps they shouldn’t be reading it in the first place.
well joe turner is an outspoken guy….let’s ask him…what about it joe….are you sympathetic to the anti-catholic and anti-semitic point of view?….
The point is on that photo, Joe is standing there with his arms crossed and a couple of obvious Nazis are marching with flags in front of him. The photo depicts a correlation of the two entities being together. It does not define a cause and effect. Joe’s thoughts could, from the picture, be one of approval or one of distain.
The protests of the Laguna Beach “illegal labor” center was an issue predating Joe’s involvement. In fact, the early protests were attended by Jim Gilchrist and led to the formation of the Minutemen organizations. I think that Joe’s participation included a formal appeal to “Save Our State” affectionandos to attend. But I don’t think that Joe was ever in command of the Laguna Beach protests.
In fact, Joe would give a general appeal out on his website to attend a protest. He did not know who or how many would show up. He simply knew that the movement was growing.
I attended only one, which was the Home Depot protest in Rancho Cucamonga. I had spent weeks trying to convince Joe not to target Home Depot but to concentrate his efforts on Congress. I finally had to concede that Joe knew what part he wanted to do, knew swat he was doing, supported his protest, and so attended.
The first protest Joe organized drew about 25 people. His protest to support the Redondo Beach Police Department drew 75. So extrapolation led Joe and others to think that maybe in Rancho Cucamonga there may be 225. Nobody knew. In fact there we 50-75. But Home Depot was prepared.
When we finally went into the store, we did not find the useual dearth of help, but found three employees waiting in every isle to help us. Then there were the spotters standing on the roof. The part that was the most fun was figuring out which of the protesters were law enforcement personnel infiltrating us.
We were milling about one entrance to the parking lots with signs, bells, and whistles, when I noticed two guys standing up on a raised planter. They kind of had their arms crossed and were in an observational mode. I climbed up into the planter and began talking to them.
The one who took the lead and talked told me that they were contractors. When I asked why they had chosen to come, they said that they had just heard about it and decided to come and see shat was going on. When I asked them where they were from, he gave me a nearby town. When I asked him what kind of contractor he was, he got agitated and asked me what busines of it of mine?
That’s when I knew that they were cops. I am a contractor. Any contractor asked what they do would effusively answer to their particular skill and knowledge, always with an eye to promote new business. In fact, we are required to carry our “pocket license” and required by law to give our state number to anyone who askes. Plus they had heavy vests that could have concealed a gun.
So San Berdoo states that Joe Turner should have been able to control being photoed in a public place with neo-Nazies. Should he be able to control undercover cops showing up posing as contractors and appearing in the photos? Should he be able to control people posing as neo-Nazies simply to discredit the legitimate organization?
On his wedsite, Joe allowed the plethora of opinion to be expressed. He wanted it out there and dealt with. We knew that a small fraction of those opposed to illegal immigration were racists and neo-Nazies. But we knew that 100% of racists and neo-Nazies were against illegal immigration and would like to attach to and possibly control the organization.
Joe mostly allowed the other posters to answer those on the extreme. I particularly answered people who actually wanted to mount armed uprisings against the United States government over the issue. I turned them back to being involved in legitimate government and reminded them that in the course of modern intelligence, even back in primative 2005, by annonymously encouraging insurrection against the United States government, they had already announced to the intelligence agencies precisely who they were.
To summarize, Joe knew what he was doing five years ago as an issue-oriented advocate. He was savy, skilled, and intelligent, and did much to move the community in the way he believed it needed to go. He put himself up front to take a lot of expected untrue criticism. This is why he was quoted saying that when people say all sorts of bad things about him, he concidered it a badge on honor.
Now he is an aide in county government in a “legitimate” role. This is not suprising. This has many precedents. The statment by San Berdoo that Joe always seems to land on his feet might best be explained by the consideration that Joe has never been knocked off balance.
With is ability to take criticism, learn from the part of it that is true, and to allow what is false to roll off his back; with his ability to adhere to principle and to independently decide what is best according to that principle, Joe Turner may be in a unique position to lead San Bernardino out of its culture of corruption and into the polite world.
Now may be the time, before age leaves him too fatigued and too jaded.
I hate to say this, but sadly “Senor Blogger” is Ted Leher. Let it be known, and any other cry is simply a LIE! Get a life Ted along with your incompetent, lazy, lying, and crooked career-politician candidate Janice Rutherford.
As I have pointed out numerous times, “Senor Blogger” is probably at least 25 different people. It is a catchall pen name for those who do not want their own account but want to submit something once in a while. Quite often, I don’t even know who is actually responsible for the post.
Excerpts from Imran Ghori Article, Press Enterprise, March 25, 2009
Brian Levin, of the Center for the Study of Hate and Extremism at Cal State San Bernardino, called the Turner appointment “outrageous.”
“This is someone who I believe crosses the line,” he said.
Turner, who was not at the meeting and did not return a message seeking comment, has said that he was unable to control who attends his rallies.
Supervisor Brad Mitzelfelt defended Derry’s hiring of Turner during the meeting and called him a good choice.
“He is not what some people accuse him of being,” he said.
Derry said the accusations against Turner were false.
“He’s only polarizing because some people don’t like his position on illegal immigration, which most of my constituents agree with,” he said.
Derry first considered hiring Turner last fall when he was forming his transition team before he took office. At the time, he told Turner he would need to tone down his comments if he were to work for the supervisor.
Derry said Turner was advised that his public comments must reflect those of the supervisor. In accepting the job with Derry, Turner would no longer continue as head of Save Our State.
His main role as special projects coordinator, which pays $54,995.20 a year, will be to write news releases and opinion pieces for area newspapers, Derry said. The position opened up recently with the promotion of another employee, Derry said.
Turner worked most recently as an analyst for the county’s public health department and was previously a field representative for Assemblyman Ray Haynes, R-Murrieta.
“I’ve worked with Joseph on and off for a number of years and the skill sets stand out,” Derry said.
“He’s just a very good writer. That skill is not very easy to find.”
Turner has made several unsuccessful forays into San Bernardino politics, running most recently in November 2007 for city clerk. In 2006, he pushed for a ballot initiative that would have penalized employers who hired illegal immigrants and landlords who rented to them. The initiative, which failed to get on the ballot, would also have required city business to be conducted in English.
