iePolitics: Smoke and Mirrors on the Fifth Floor – Part 1

This is part one in a series of articles examining the spending habits of the Board of Supervisors.  We are being told that each of the five Board of Supervisor Districts has been asked to cut $500,000 from their budgets.  Sounds like they finally get it that we are in budget meltdown, right?  Wrong!

We are trying to get as accurate information as possible through California Public Records Act requests but we are being stonewalled by the County Administrative Office.

Let’s take this district by district.

iePolitics: Yahoo!

I’m a bit irritated with Yahoo!  Anyone who uses Yahoo! as their search engine knows for every holiday they add cute little animated graphics in celebration of the holiday.  Included in those celebrations have been holidays such as Cinco de Mayo, Kwanzaa, Earth Day, etc.  If I remember correctly, the Cinco de Mayo graphics included the Mexican Flag, which was fine by me.

Last October, however, on Columbus Day, there were no graphics whatsoever.  That bothered be as I knew they were trying to be politically correct.  Now today, the Fourth of July, the only graphics are fireworks that link to another commercial site.  No American flag, no “Happy Fourth of July,” no nothing.
