Thank You from Ed Montgomery

 Thank You

This campaign was a lot of work as it should be. I believe as a candidate it is my job to earn your vote both by my experience and by having the courage to go out into our community and meet with voters.

I appreciate the many efforts of the event organizers who have made it possible for grassroots candidates like me to present our campaigns in public forums. I thank the many community organizers who come to these events and then tell their friends and neighbors.

My campaign has been truly a family affair from my patient wife, to my son out there handling signs, and my daughter who as campaign manager put in more hours than the rest of us. I thank my staff and my friends who every step of the way went out there with their families talking to voters. I never could have done it without you.

Thank you to my fellow candidate Paul Schrader for all of the hard work with my campaign. It was a great experience to work on bringing Victim Notification GPS into our community with you and get to know your wonderful family.

I thank the voters who have taken the time this election year to research the issues in this race and reach their own informed decision. I believe in this race I am the best qualified, most dedicated candidate to serve our community.

Now the election is in the hands of the voters.

Thank you again for an experience I will never forget. I look forward to serving you as your next Superior Court Judge.

Ed Montgomery
Candidate for Superior Court Judge #29

InlandPolitics: The Gutierrez prosecution – further analysis

Yesterday’s pre-trial court hearing in the case against Rancho Cucamonga City Councilman and former Assessor’s employee Rex Gutierrez was interesting to say the least.

Between Friday and Monday’s proceedings you would have thought it was two different cases.

Friday’s hearing was to determine readiness for trial and whether or not developer Jeff Burum would take the stand.

On Friday Superior Court Judge Duke Rouse set the trial process in motion and denied a Motion to Quash a subpoena issued to Burum. Rouse also told prosecutors he didn’t see any evidence in the preliminary hearing transcripts or in a Motion to Allow Hearsay Testimony of Co-Conspirator Adam Aleman that met the threshold of proof as to any conspiracy between Burum, former Assessor Bill Postmus, and Gutierrez to effect Gutierrez’s hiring with the understanding Gutierrez would perform no work for the county, but instead do Burum’s bidding in Rancho Cucamonga business. iePolitics: More Updates Tomorrow

It’s 2 a.m. and I’m tired of blogging.  If I get out of bed early enough tomorrow, I will post picks for the supervisorial races (will likely surprise you on those) and a few other races of interest.

I have also had a lot of demand for the full text of the email sent on Sheriff’s computers.  I plan to post that in the morning as well.

Good night all!

iePolitics: Anthony Riley for 59th Assembly District

www.rileyforassembly.com

A Reagan Republican Who Will Turn Our Economy Around

“Anthony Riley is a rock solid conservative that taxpayers can count on to protect them . . . and he’ll help businesses create more jobs in our state.”

- State Senator George Runner

No Tax Hikes; Stop the Spending

A fiscal conservative, Anthony Riley believes state government has a spending addiction. That’s one reason he signed the Americans for Tax Reform Pledge opposing all tax hikes.

Anthony Riley strongly supports the two-thirds vote requirement before the Legislature can raise taxes.  He favors a strict spending cap based on population and inflation growth that mandates a “rainy day” reserve.  Anthony Riley is the only 59th Assembly District Candidate endorsed by the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers  Association
Political Action Committee. Continue reading

iePolitics: The Race for the 59th Assembly District (Republican)

This is the other hotly contest Assembly District race and the more controversial of the two.  Its current officeholder is Assemblyman Anthony Adams who was the target of a failed recall effort.  There are six candidates vying for our votes.

This race is also “blessed” with a well financed RINO who, unlike Don Kurth, claims to be a Christian.  And this “Christian” (or Mormon in reality) along with his campaign consultant Chris Jones (sound familiar?), has conducted the most hate-filled, ugly campaign in San Bernardino County.  That candidate is, of course, Chris Lancaster, who has stooped to sending photographers to his opponents’ homes to film their young, underaged relatives, sponsoring an incredibly hateful video, and knowingly sending out lie-filled propaganda intended to induce and inspire bigotry and hatred among voters.  Needless to say, Lancaster is undeserving of your vote.

That leaves five other candidates:  Iver Bye, Ken Hunter, Tim Donnelly, Corey Calaycay and Anthony Riley. Continue reading

iePolitics: Mike Morrell for the 63rd Assembly District

www.morrellforassembly.com

As a small business owner who has lived and worked in the Inland Empire for over 30 years, I have gained the experience of successfully creating jobs – something our state badly needs in the face of double digit unemployment. I have signed the “No New Taxes Pledge,” and am endorsed by the National Tax Limitation Committee. The California Small Business Association has also endorsed me, because I am committed to spurring job growth and improving the economy by preventing new regulations and reducing the litigation and tax burdens that cripple small businesses. The government must begin living like we do – “within our means.”

I am conservative economically, politically and socially. I have been married to my wife Joanie for 32 years. We are pro-life, support the Second Amendment, and believe in traditional family values. Our daughter Kristen is a graduate of the Focus on the Family Institute, our son David recently graduated from law school, and our youngest, Matt, attends Hillsdale College.

I am concerned that our greatest enemy today is an insidious progressive agenda that weakens our nation from within: economically, politically and morally. The message we hear from progressive leaders is that “government is the solution.” History, however, proves otherwise. Big government is not the solution; rather, it is the problem. As government expands, liberty contracts and freedom is lost. Politicians believe elected office is about “they the government,” and have forgotten those three foundational words written in our Constitution, “We The People.” Continue reading

iePolitics: The Race for the 63rd Assembly District

The 63rd Assembly District is one of two hotly contested Assembly seats in San Bernardino County.  There are seven Republicans vying for the Republican nomination, six of which are actively campaigning for the seat.  They are:  Mike Morrell, Paul Chabot, Acquanetta Warren, Pat Gilbreath, Henry Nickle, and Don Kurth.

This was both an easy and hard decision for me, not as to whom to vote for, as I don’t live in the district, but rather whom to support.  There are several very well qualified candidates.

There is only one candidate that I do not want to see win and that is Don Kurth.  He was a convicted drug felon in his 20s and served prison time.  Later in life he has had issues with domestic violence.  He has also had some serious financial problems.  But more important to me than any of that, Don, along with his campaign manager Jessica Austin, and campaign consultant Chris Jones, has run the single most unethical and dirty campaign in all of San Bernardino County.  None of the three of them appear to have any ethics or integrity whatsoever.  What they have done is shameful.  And it would be shameful if a RINO such as Don Kurth received the Republican Party’s nod. iePolitics: Vote Ed Montgomery for Judge

www.ed4judge.com

I have made my home in San Bernardino County for the past forty years and raised three children.  I bring a wealth of knowledge and experience that uniquely qualifies me to be a Superior Court Judge.  I am an Air Force veteran and former first responder.  I have seen the violence on the streets and understand the difficulties my fellow first responders encounter.

I have been practicing in the field of family law for the past sixteen years.  I have received awards for my “very high legal ability and ethical standards” the last three years in a row. I am published in two landmark Family Law cases, and have lobbied in Sacramento on Family Law issues.

I am counsel that drafted the current Family Code §3011(d) protecting our children from illegal drugs and alcohol abuse in Family Court.  I am the only candidate that provided any input to the Elkins Commission Report concerning the problems we have in the Family Court System. Continue reading

iePolitics: The Race for Judge, Office No. 29

This judicial contest isn’t quite as contentious as the other, unless one is a district attorney.  It seems district attorneys believe the only attorneys who should be appointed to the bench are district attorneys.  Long-time readers of the blog know the position I have taken on that subject.

Having spent six years as a Judicial Secretary, first with San Bernardino County Superior Court and then with the Consolidated Trial Courts of San Bernardino County, I worked for many new judges.  Our governor at the time was a “law and order” type of governor and had the tendency to appoint little other than district attorneys any time a vacancy occurred.  He set the bench back years with that policy. iePolitics: Vote Bob Lemkau for Judge

http://www.votejudgelemkau.com/minorscounselnow.html

Minor’s Counsel Now!

Children need a voice in court, too
As a San Bernardino County Superior Court Judge, I believe that the eradication of Minor’s Counsel in San Bernardino County is a travesty. To rectify the lack of Minor’s Counsel in family-law courts nationwide, I have established an online discussion forum where family-law judges, attorneys, and advocates can develop a campaign for this vital legislation. Legal professionals are encouraged to join Minor’s Counsel Now!

A case for Minor’s Counsel
While the adults present their arguments before a judge for dissolution, it is not uncommon for a child, completely innocent of malice, to be used as a weapon of manipulation, which adds to the child’s anguish. But, when a child has a voice by way of counsel in the form of a family-law attorney with a background in psychology or social work, the court can more easily recognize divisive deceptions presented by the litigants. The child’s own words can protect and serve as a safeguard from further unnecessary torment. Continue reading

iePolitics: The Race for Judge, Office No. 11

Very few election years do we see a sitting judge challenged for his seat.  This is one such year.

The challenge revolves around a ruling by Judge Bob Lemkau in a request for a restraining order by mother Katie Tagle.  There has been a lot of controversy over whether or not the judge should have granted the restraining order.  This one case has created a firestorm rarely seen and many facts about the case have been distorted by those wishing to unseat Judge Lemkau.

iePolitics came out against Judge Lemkau early on based on what was reported in the media.  But as the whole story unfolded, it became obvious that Katie has become a pawn for outside interests attempting to promote their own agenda.  It is unclear whether or not James Hosking, Lemkau’s opponent, is part of that agenda or not.
