iePolitics: Our Favorite Yellow Singing Canary

Confidential Informant No. 1, our favorite yellow singing Canary extraordinaire, “persona au gratin” Adam Aleman is in a fine pickle or up to his pretty pink cheeks in cheese.  Or, should I say, the District Attorney’s Office is in a fine pickle because it was the District Attorney’s Office investigators and senior prosecutor who chose to ignore the obvious and instead encourage the young Mr. Aleman to embellish his tales and continue on his trail of deceit.

Why you ask?  I think the answer is obvious.  District Attorney Mike Ramos needed a “political corruption” conviction.  After all, his Public Integrity Unit had done pretty much nothing at all in his first seven years in office. Continue reading

iePolitics: So why are we still hiring managers?

I thought we were having a budget crisis?  We can’t do with one less deputy director?  I guess we can’t.  Hot off the press:

It is my pleasure to announce that Marlene Hagan has been selected as the Deputy Director for the North Desert Region (NDR).  Marlene’s promotion is effective April 10, 2010.  Her reporting date to the NDR is yet to be determined.

Marlene earned her Master of Social Work degree from Loma Linda University.  While a student she completed an internship with San Bernardino County.  After her graduation she accepted the position of Social Service Practitioner with the County.

When Marlene was a Social Service Practitioner she gained experience as both a carrier worker and as a concurrent planning worker.  She was also certified as a Forensic Interview Specialist.

In 2003 Marlene promoted to Supervising Social Service Practitioner.  She was the supervisor for  a concurrent planning unit.  In 2006 she promoted to Child Welfare Services Manager.  In her current position Marlene has had a variety of management responsibilities including foster home licensing, the special health care needs program, the Independent Living Program, Wraparound and Family Group Conferencing, and the regionalization of the Adoptions program.

As you can see Marlene has experience in a variety of programs which will serve her well in her new position.

Please join me in welcoming and congratulating Marlene on her promotion and new assignment.

iePolitics: “Throw the Bums Out”

Well, from what I hear Sam Clauder stole a bit of my thunder, but, yes, I have been discussing with many like-minded citizens the possibility of forming a small Political Action Committee dedicated to throwing out incumbents and supporting grassroots candidates.  I didn’t want a PAC name that would leave any doubt in anyone’s mind as to what it was about.  We have lots of bums in this county that need to be thrown out.

I will update all of you as soon as there is a bit more information.

iePolitics: I should clarify something for all the new readers

“My Life on the Public Dole” is the result of the County of San Bernardino claiming that this blog “creates a hostile work environment for county administrators” because we expose how corrupt they are.  Mark Uffer, our former County Administrative Officer, got pissed off at me back in October and had me taken off work and placed me on an unpaid leave of absence.  I haven’t had a county paycheck since November as my punishment.  So after having my utilities turned off, I decided to apply for Food Stamps.  Although I take that decision seriously, it is also being done tongue-in-cheek. iePolitics: Thank You John and Ken

And this time I mean the REAL John and Ken.  Unfortunately, I was not able to listen as I was busy with the Fair Political Practices Complaint (FPPC) against Mike Ramos, but I’m told John and Ken of KFI fame read my Judge Lemkau entry on the air.  So thank you guys!  I hope you stay on this story.  Judge Lemkau needs to be replaced.  But almost as important is uncovering the cover up by the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department:  Another Tragic Coverup

iePolitics: A New FPPC Complaint Against Mike Ramos

Although I am not going to give details until we know the complaint has been received by the California Fair Political Practices Commission (FPPC), a new complaint has been sent to the FPPC for investigation.  I have been told that due to the nature of the complaint, the FPPC will contact the Ramos campaign for clarification.  We cannot imagine Mikey being able to provide adequate justification for his actions to convince the FPPC not to fine him.

Some time tomorrow afternoon, iePolitics will release the details of the complaint.

iePolitics: Postmus/Erwin Arraignment Sends District Attorney’s Office into Meltdown

This morning’s scheduled arraignment for former Assessor Bill Postmus and former Assistant Assessor Jim Erwin was postponed until April 26, 2010, so that the defendants could finalize arrangements for legal counsel.  The hearing also provided the defendants’ attorneys a forum to notify the court and the San Bernardino County District Attorney’s Office and the state of California Attorney General’s Office of the fact that neither defendant will waive time.  This revelation sent both agencies into meltdown. iePolitics: All in the Family – Part 2

Today’s subject is an all-too-frequent name discussed on the blog for reasons of nepotism.  That subject, of course, is San Bernardino County Second District Supervisor Paul Biane.

We have written about Paul appointing both his uncle and his father-in-law to county posts.  In Item No. 2 of today’s board agenda shows that he is reappointing his significant other to a County Service Area:

j. Approve the reappointment of Gil Rodriguez, Jr., to CSA 70 OS-1 (No. Etiwanda), Second District.

And, let’s not forget, Biane’s chief of staff, Matt Brown, is married to Jessica Brown, an analyst for the County Administrative Office and daughter to Workforce Development Department director Sandy Harmsen.

Yep, nepotism is alive and well in the Second District.
