If you still have a job, it is life as usual, but for the unemployed; it is depression. While, the EDD has reported 9% – 9.7% unemployment in account for those who signed up for benefits, the Self-employed, have not had that opportunity, yet, they still paid taxes.
Fox News has reported Commercial Real Estate at an all time low, with 40% across the nation in Bankruptcy or buildings for sale. Does that mean, people who were Self-employed occupied those offices. Absolutely! Continue reading

Our new County Administrative Officer Greg Devereaux has his fans and his enemies. When it comes to these issues it seems everyone is expecting him to be a Mark Uffer clone with threats and dirty deals. I can honestly say I don’t have a good feel for what he will do. Someone asked about nepotism in the Sheriff’s Office and someone quickly sent me a list of known family members. Of course, no one is saying that the youngsters don’t deserve their jobs or promotions but no one is saying they didn’t have a little help either. Here is the list so far:

The California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) was established by the California Legislature in 1959. Its purpose is to set minimum standards and levels of training for law enforcement officers in the state of California. According to their website:
The POST program is voluntary and incentive-based. Participating agencies agree to abide by the standards established by POST. The more than 600 agencies in the POST program are eligible to receive the Commission’s services and benefits, such as job-related assessment tools, research into improved officer selection standards, management counseling services, the development of new training courses, reimbursement for training, and quality leadership training programs. POST also awards professional certificates to recognize peace officer achievement and proficiency.
