iePolitics: Havasu Lake and San Manuel

I have been involved with too many other things lately to pursue either of these issues, but since both bands of Indians contribute heavily to the political process in San Bernardino County it is time to return to the subject.

One of the accusations I hear frequently is about the number of deaths on these reservations that are overlooked or covered up.  No wonder considering the amount of gifts and contributions made to county officials, including the District Attorney.

If anyone would like to shed additional light on the subject of deaths on the reservations, political action by the tribes, mafia connections, and all the rest of the crime on the reservations, please contact me at sharon@iepolitics.com.  It’s time we expose what is really going on and which of our politicians have been bought and paid for by gambling monies.

  1. Sharon, a great flurry of good commentary today. But beware. I’ve noticed that your greatest days of work are followed by your meltdowns.

Don’t think you have to outdo today’s work tommorrow. Be willing to rest on a good day’s work with some rest. Take care of yourself and your dogs.

Don’t be hesitant to call your extensive list of friends and supporters just to say “hi” and before you even realize that you are declining into a place of emotional need.

Sometimes the best way to prevent the emotional lows ar to cut the emotional highs off short.

  2. Again I must agree with Steve…..pace yourself and take care of your own needs first, then the doggies, then other stuff.

  3. Actually, I think yesterday had more to do with cabin fever and not having anything with less than four legs to talk to! Rather than close to meltdown, I’m very jazzed right now. Hope to have an announcement in the next few days, probably Monday.

  4. No idea what you’re talking about. Chemehuevi has never endorsed or even contributed to any candidate or PAC. Do your homework before you make veiled accusations. It might contribute to you having fewer meltdowns.

Read up on Public Law 280. It will explain why crimes on reservations are sometimes overlooked. If the reading is too heavy for you, I’ll take the time to explain it.

  5. tribal…Read PL280,welcome to the blog…your insight will be greatly appreciated…it explains how many of the revelations of “the last circle” happened,in the past. What are concerns on the reservation, that are for most in your mind today?

  6. Jobs. Jobs. Jobs. The inability to attract finance dollars coupled with a remote location makes shoreline development difficult. Our unemployment rate is very high.

Sharon, I think if you are going to single out tribes, and it appears to me that is what you are doing, then you need to be more responsible. Sure, things happen on reservations. Just as they happen anywhere. Why don’t you investigate cover ups of the LAPD or something. There will certainly be more to look into.

  7. Did you miss the coverup story about the Sheriff’s Office?

Actually, here is where I’m going with all if this. San Manuel came onto my radar because they chose to advertise on Barb Stantons show. She is an enemy and therefore for every minute of good publicity they get with her I will make sure they get an hour if bad publicity from me.

As for Havasu Lake, originally that was more of a fluke than anything. However, Mitzelfelt has caused me some problems so I decided ti return the favor. In the process Zook and I pretty much patched things up so brad is not on my radar. But there are definitely some strange things going on out there. I’ve been invited to go out and see the place for myself and hope to do so in the not-to-distant future.

In terms if the Native American angle, I have no agenda there. I have spent a lot if timee in reservations, although mostly Navajo. Its a culture I love. But anytime there is wealth, especially new wealth, corruption also moves in. And we see that with Indian gaming.

During my last trip to Gallup I had a chance to interview many Natives. A gaming ordinance had just been passed after several attempts. Many felt the last election had been rigged to finally get it thru. Peoole were very fearful as to what it bring. On the one hand the poverty there is almost that of a third world country. The incidence of alcoholism and domestic violence is incredible. I’ve never been anywhere that has so many drunk driving and alcohol related deaths, many of which can be traced back to the poverty so on the other hand its hard not to want to see them prosper more. But again with gaming comes new problems and new crime.

Despite the best intentions of tribal leaders it seems that there has always been a lot of violence and death associated with Native Americans trying to get ahead and not all of it is from outside attacks.

  8. There wasn’t a coverup! It was all over the news! There were some political issues because the tribe was billed for a three day “man hunt” that never occurred, or, more correctly was abused. The tribe was basically bilked by a promoter (an admitted mistake), and then punished by the County. End of story.

In any case… look… it’s a mistake to point out violence and death associating itself with tribal culture. I’m just saying, I’m pretty sure no matter where you are from, you have a history that has some pretty deep roots in violence. If you have imperialistic roots, that goes triple.

I have good friends from SM. They are good people and give a lot to their community. If there are some bad seeds, as I am sure there are some on your block, maybe even in your own family, it might take a little effort to pick them out, but those are the ones to go after.

Finally, you might have been on to something. Many native people probably ought to not drink. Many of us lack an enzyme to properly process the alcohol. There was never booze here until Columbus brought it. So yes, there is a high rate of alcoholism. A problem we deal with, but nothing new.

That being said, I know a lot more “journalists” whom lack the ability to process information. And they’re still allowed to write. And that causes damage as well my friend. What do we do?
