Bono Mack:  Partisan Health Care Overhaul is Wrong Approach

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Emphasizing overwhelming opposition to the partisan health care bill to initiate a government-run overhaul of America’s health care system, Congresswoman Mary Bono Mack (CA-45) today sent a letter to the President and Congressional Democrat leadership calling for a meaningful, bipartisan approach that will make health care more affordable and accessible to the American people.

“Congress should be focused on improving our health care system for every day Americans, not on scoring political points and pursuing a massive overhaul of health care that Americans have clearly rejected,” said Bono Mack.  “The Majority has the opportunity to do the right thing and work with all Members of Congress on health care reforms that are in the best interest of the American people, instead of putting the government in charge of medical decisions that should be made by patients and their doctors.

“As the daughter and granddaughter of physicians and Representative for a district that would greatly benefit from real health care reform, I urge the Majority leadership to reconsider this reckless decision to move ahead with such a partisan and fundamentally flawed piece of legislation.  This is not the ‘bipartisan’ approach that was promised.

“It is my hope that the Majority changes direction and reaches beyond partisan politics to craft a more balanced and effective bill that improves our health care system at a price we can afford.”

  1. MARY BONO MACK is OUR only choice….There are no qualified candidates running in district 45 except MARY!! Clayton thibideou is a nice guy but not experienced enough….Palm Springs mayor does not represent enough of his constituents,,,and the AIP
candidate Bill Lussenheide has a relgious platform and unrealistic outlook to be taken seriously.

  2. Remember voting for a third party for congress will siphon votes from a REPUBLICAN Mary Bono mack and Cause a democrat to get into office!! Vote for mary!! No dems in ca-45!! thank you

  3. What about the issues with Monsanto? I mean, legal or not their genetically modified patent laws are just abusing the rights of citizens who prefer NOT to ingest such substances not to mention what the are doing economically to farmers who want to grow traditional crops.

Plus, we are just beginning to touch on the high fructose corn syrup (HFCS)/diabetes connection. My undersatnding is HFCS causes elevated blood sugars far longer than traditional sugar. Of course, that was originated by a somewhat a political situation as well since Cuba was so rich in sugar that we developed an alternative to use in our manufacturing processes. The FDA was all too happy to approve that to help companies lower costs in production and keep profit high for manufacturers. But at what expense to the American Citizens health? Especially since now their is medical evidence to make us rexamine those decisions yet we are doing nothing in Congress?

I won’t get into the whole medicare/medicade system CASH COW system and how people in prisons get top tier health care in this country. Then the welfare dependants and union workers. What about NORMAL taxpaying citizens with no massive political organization to lobby on their MEDICAL behalf?

  4. I have supported Mary by voting for her in the past.
I will not be able to do so again if she continues to back the positions that the GOP are advocating.
The President is compromising while the leaders of the GOP are not bending at all on the important topics they are considering in congress.
I will not be able to support her in the future if she does not stand up to her party and continues to vote on a party line that has no regard for the underprivileged and elderly Americans.
