Washington, DC – Congresswoman Mary Bono Mack (CA-45) today issued the following statement on the one-year anniversary of when the so-called “stimulus” bill was signed into law:

“One year after the Majority’s trillion-dollar ‘stimulus’, it is clear that this bloated spending package has failed to meet the needs of every day Americans,” said Bono Mack.  “Fraught with wasteful spending and big government programs, the ‘stimulus’ has left nearly 10 percent of Americans, and over 14 percent in Riverside County, without jobs and facing a record-high national deficit.

“Washington must stop adamantly pursuing bigger government and start addressing the needs of every day Americans.  We need real solutions that will help get Americans back on their feet and our economy moving again.  This must start with fiscal responsibility in Washington and tax relief for families and small businesses.

“It is my hope that after reflecting on a year of broken promises and clear failures with this flawed ‘stimulus’ plan, the Majority in Congress will start working on bipartisan solutions in a way that will help our families and small businesses.”
