iePolitics: Sheriff’s Training Fraud–Where is Mikey?

I received the following email a little while ago:

Can you tell me what ever has happened to the case involving over 20 Deputies getting college credits when they did not attend the classes. It seems to just have gone away. This is serious because of the lying these people did and the amount of money they have taken from the County.

I asked our resident expert, AntiCorruptionUnit, as he is the one who broke this story, and here is his response:

Yes the case died a quiet death thanks to Sheriff Hoops.  Captain Bart Gray is now retired.  His wife was demoted from her position in the training division and sent back to the jail.

Just another cover up by the Sheriff’s Department. No prosecution if forthcoming in this matter.

So where is our crime-fighting District Attorney?  Oh yeah, political opps with Moonbeam.

  1. Waht about the senseless training that was given at the SD last month I believe fro concealed weapons permits ,the instructor gave a test but gave them the answers also ,he stated waht does he care he is retiring

  2. What hapended to the investigation into Hansberger’s destruction of all of his files in violation of state law. I guess if your Ramos political mentor, you get a pass.

  3. I would have thought for sure Moonbeam would jump on this one too since the case involved a State Agency.

It should be pretty clear that Ramos and Hoops are going to be VERY selective in their prosecutions of criminals and termination of certain employees.

Ignore certain ones to protect their pals, ignore some that might bring into question your leadership skills and character, go after others to show the public you have zero tolerance for misconduct, CYA whenever possible to keep your imagine up. (Ivory Webb)

Something else that doesn’t make any sense is the Sheriff’s Department fires an employee for stealing and lying, then turns around and offers them a job in a non-sworn position to avoid a Civil Service hearing that can challenge their investigation and motives in the first place.

A recent example is 3 Deputies out of the Fontana Station who did a “knock and talk” at a residence they suspected had narcotics in it. A “knock and talk” is where you try and talk your way into a house without obtaining a search warrant.

Well the resident refused consent to search and the Deputies went in anyways. They search the house and don’t find any dope in the house.

THEY do find dope in the female suspects bra. A female Deputy was not called to retrieve the dope either. One of the male Deputies recovered the dope. An it was a small quantity too.

They arrest the woman and of course the police report does not mention what REALLY happened. YES the Deputy prepared a false police report to justifie his actions. A felony and a clear violation of the 4th Amendment. Civil rights violation BIG TIME..

Well another resident reports the misconduct to a Sergeant and tells what really happened and says the male Deputy fondled his girlfriends breast while recovering the dope.

Sergeant confronts one of the 3 Deputies involved and he tells the truth. The Deputy who prepared the report resigns in lieu of prosecution for the false report. The other 2 are facing disciplinary charges and I will be surprised if they are not terminated.

Is the Sheriff’s Department going to prosecute the one Deputy, it appears not. Why, I submit that Hoops does not want too many of these cases in the public forum with his election coming up soon. Refer to the Captain Gray story if in doubt.
