The SB Sun ceased being a real newspaper long ago. PE covers SB stories better.

I do use the SB Sun should I happen upon an extra copy or two for the bottom of my birdie's cage.

Poor birdie sounds as though he's been dumbed-down as a result. Sigh...

Joe has been given a ton of information on a number of issues, he has ignored most of it. Joe is not the newspaper man in shining armor for reporting corruption. I think Mr.Pine has him on a leash.

Caroline... Joe Nelson had a whole boatload of EVIDENCE in his possesion regarding the Sexual harrassment against Mike Ramos. He has so much Evidence in his possession to show that Ramos LIED ALL THROUGHOUT THE INVESTIGATION... but he CHOSE not to report the whole story...might want to ask Joe Nelson if he sleeps well at night.

Mr.Pine, I read the newspaper, news magazines as well as watch the TV news. On a regular basis sources are regularly cited as anonymous or inside officials, etc.
You make it sound like you are too pure for that. You are not. This is a common practice. One wonders what the real reason is that you fail to disclose so much information that the public is left to hear about in other ways. Your paper has the potential for helping to stem the tide of rampant corruption in San Bernardino County rather than contribute to it. I hope you will make this your goal. Thank you for your recent efforts to provide Joe Nelson the time to do his job. You need to hire more Joe Nelsons

It is well known that the Daily Bulletin has received a great deal of information that they have not revealed to the public. And that is why many have given up reading the newspaper. Maybe when you start telling it like it really is you will start selling more newspapers.

The reason that you get sources that don't want to be revealed in this county is BECAUSE the corruption is so widespread. Further, the crooks have a nasty habit of trying to retaliate against those who tell the truth about the. That is the culture of San Bernardino County politics. Maybe you need to set up an anonymous tip line. You at the newspaper are protected by your ability to print the truth. The bad guys (the ones in question) are afraid of you and thus you are not personal targets. In other words, Mr. Pine, is it easy to make your commentary from your protected seat.
I am sure you that will read this comment, and perhaps it will change your sensitivity to those honest people in the community who have experienced retaliation and/or might. You have a responsibility both to report the news and to protect your sources. If you can't do that then you should not be in the newspaper business.
