Republicans lose races when we nominate flawed candidates.
In 1998, we nominated Dan Lungren for Governor. The NRA and those supporting the Second Amendment so disliked him, they supported Gray Davis–and Lungren lost by 20 points.
In the 2006 GOP primary, Senator Abel Maldonado was the favorite to win the nomination for State Controller. But, due to his support of tax increases, big government, weak votes on the “life” issue, he lost. His legislative record, even then, was so poor that Assemblyman Tony Strickland was able to easily defeat him.
Federal laws say that no individual should protect or assist illegal aliens. Yet, the GOP in a solid GOP district, the Bill Emmerson Assembly seat, 63rd AD, will lose in November if Don Kurth is the nominee.
In 2003 the Mexican American Legal Defense and Education Fund, MALDEF, demanded that the city of Rancho Cucamonga, using local, state and Federal funds, create a Day Labor Center–a euphemism for helping illegal aliens find day jobs.
City Councilman Don Kurth made the motion and voted to “direct staff to develop a Job Center”. Then on November 19, 2003 Kurth voted to use Federal Community Development Block Grant funds to pay for the job center for illegal aliens. Looks to me that Kurth really wanted the center and was willing to use tax dollars meant to make Rancho Cucamonga a better community for the assistance of illegal aliens instead.
Conservative Republicans will revolt when they hear that Don Kurth, candidate for the GOP nomination for Assembly has been a strong supporter of illegal aliens. Worse, Kurth used tax dollars to advance and support illegal aliens. In November, Kurth will lose a close race, if nominated, because principled Republicans do not want their tax dollars used to help illegal aliens in any way.
Previously I wrote an editorial about a GOP candidate for Congress that was proud he HIRED illegal aliens for his business in the past. He is now out of money for his campaign.

I’m a conservative Republican. And I can see another side to the issue. Not all people at a job center are illegal, and contrary to what we believe we see on some corners, not all day laborers are even Mexican. If citizens have a need to find inexpensive temporary labor and there are those willing to provide those services, isn’t it a benefit to the community to help safely satisfy that demand and provide those jobs? By creating a job center, it allows control of a previously uncontrolled, unsafe situation. It can even be used to verify the immigration status and criminal background of those seeking work so the very issue that was mentioned isn’t even a factor. I don’t know if that is the case, but it should be.
Why, then, do we need taxpayer funded centers when there are already legitimate suppliers of day laborers who document their worker’s eligibility, collect taxes, and pay workman’s compensation? Labor Ready is the top of the food chain in this industry. I use then when I need extra labor.
Mayor Don Kurth Leads the Fight
AGAINST Illegal Immigration

Don Kurth for Assembly Campaign Consultant
Recently a blogger-for-hire sent out a false and misleading attack against Rancho Cucamonga Mayor and Republican 63rd Assembly District Candidate Don Kurth.
This is the kind of same sort of sleazy smear tactic that was employed against Republican Chris Norby in the 72nd Assembly District last November. These slimy blogger-for-hire tactics failed against Republican Chris Norby and they will fail against Republican Don Kurth.
Here are the facts about Mayor Kurth’s strong stands AGAINST ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION on the Rancho Cucamonga City Council:
1) With Don Kurth’s support, the city of Rancho Cucamonga passed a tough city ordinance to ban illegal alien “day laborers” from soliciting work on city streets and sidewalks.
2) This landmark city ordinance was designed to reduce illegal immigration in the city bytaking away the economic incentives that encourage their illegal entry into Rancho Cucamonga.
3) A liberal organization then challenged the ordinance by filing a lawsuit against the city. Unfortunately, a Judge ultimately ruled in favor of the Day Laborers and threw out the city’s ordinance as overly restrictive.
4) In response to the lawsuit defeat, the city of Rancho Cucamonga attempted to get the illegal alien day laborers off the city sidewalks by moving them to a small building operated by a church and located on private property. This policy was enacted to make it MORE DIFFICULT for illegal aliens to operate freely in the city.
Here are Mayor Don Kurth’s verified positions AGAINST illegal immigration:
1) Mayor Kurth is a strong OPPONENT of government benefits for illegal aliens.
2) Mayor Kurth supports San Bernardino County’s outstanding efforts to IDENTIFY and DEPORT illegal aliens in county jails.
3) Mayor Kurth believes that the federal government is NOT doing its job of protecting our nation’s borders. He supports stricter measures to SAFEGUARD OUR BORDERS—including a Border Fence.
4) Mayor Kurth’s tough leadership AGAINST illegal immigration and crime has helped to make Rancho Cucamonga one of America’s safest communities.
How could Kurth have supported the the anti street solicitation ordinance you speak of when it has been of the books for nearly 20 years?
