iePolitics: Deputy AG to Court: Erwin wants to be “special”

At the last court appearance former Assistant Assessor and Chief of Staff Jim Erwin made in front of Judge Duke Rouse, arguments were heard to have an evidentiary hearing to recuse the District Attorney’s office from Erwin’s case.  During those arguments, the deputy Attorney General assisting in the prosecution suggested to Judge Rouse that Erwin wants to be given “special” treatment.  This particular statement highlights the ignorance of the Attorney General’s office in reference to the political corruption in San Bernardino County.

Jim has never asked for “special” treatment in his case.  He wants to be treated just like everyone else . . . San Bernardino County Supervisor Paul Biane, Ontario City Manager Greg Devereaux, District Attorney Mike Ramos, San Bernardino County Supervisor Josie Gonzales, San Bernardino City Attorney Jim Penman, among others.  Every single name mentioned has committed far more serious Fair Political Practices Commission (FPPC) violations than Erwin and what happened to them?  Their cases were submitted to the FPPC for consideration and fines.  But Jim was charged with ten felonies, arrested, and had bail set at $220,000.  It seems he has received “special” treatment whether he asked for it or not.

  1. And you are dummer than a rock if everyone does not see that now, if they didn’t, when it first happened.

  2. It’s hard to believe that you defend Jim Erwin on this site with such passion. He never even professes to be innocent of the crimes of which he’s been charged. His argument is simply that others get to defend themselves in a less punitive venue and that he perjured himself because someone else told him it would be a good idea. Since this site is all about exposing and righting corruption, you should be behind Erwin paving the way for others to be charged for egregious behavior. After all, he’s been in the center of controversy after controversy in the County for years now and has prided himself on being a “take no prisoners” political operative.

On top of which, this clown (according to your own blog post) cost you your job in the quest of his own personal agenda!

  3. Jim has always maintained his innocence and if you read the FPPC regulations you will see that he is innocent. His original filing was the correct way and legal way.
