Just to keep everyone updated as I have lost most phone numbers and emails, we are still trying to get a date set for a meeting. I’ve also been discussing the situation with newspaper reporters and we have some interest. They understand that if anyone is willing to go on the record it will have to be those that have been forced to resign or retire as current fraud investigators will face loss of their jobs.
The reporters I’ve spoken to so far seem incredulous that the classification has been so decimated and the reason for it. Everyone knows welfare fraud is rampant in this county and getting worse.
I know we have no support in the Fourth District or the Fifth District. Both districts support either Linda Haugen or the decimation of the unit. The other three districts all have employees who have experienced directly or through a family member the “TAD mentality” and even if the supervisors themselves don’t get it, at least there is someone in each district who may listen if enough people come forward with hard, cold facts.
I think we all agree Linda Haugen and Virginia Lugo need to be shown the door. Now, we just need the proof that their actions rise to the level of criminal activity. We may very well have that proof.
You may as well stop beating a dead horse. There have no criminal acts so neither Haugen or Lugo are going anwhere. The fact is more is being accomplished with less, which should tell you how unproductive the fraud unit was when they had approximatley 56 investigators.
